One of the most watched videos on YouTube this weekend was The Science of Watchmen, featuring U of M professor Jim Kakalio, whose shtick is discussing the science of superheroes, and, as a result, was actually tapped by the Watchmen filmmakers to consult on the film.

Although uncredited in the film. Minnesota’s own Jolly Green Giant was consulted on being a large, all-powerful being of an unusual hue.
He reportedly balked at at “full Monty” photos requested by the studio. “I didn’t want to do anything I would have trouble explaining to Sprout later on,” the Giant said.
Seriously, the film has little appeal to me. I did watch the U of M video, though. Good that a little science education is coming out of the film’s popularity.

I liked all the product placement: the U of M calendar, the maroon pocket hanky and polo shirt.

I have this guy for a basic physics class this semester. He’s arrogant as they come, but I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised about that. We watched this in class, even though we had no idea what he was rambling about.
