The year is winding down, so, as they do every year, the local media is wrapping it up by listing their selections of the really notable of 2008. Here are the first few have found. More will be added. The Star-Tribune looks at the best in theater. City Pages lists the Best New Bands. And Vita.mn — well, let’s just say they are assembling all kinds of lists. Fav Minnesota moment from 2008? I take a strange pleasure that both the Lizard People and Flying Spaghetti Monter votes have made national headlines, but I think the best Minnesota moment of the year was the fabled Baconalia Get-together!

Forgot to add Ed’s take on Baconalia: The Early Hours.
On a serious note, my thoughts are with one of folks who came to the Trible Rock that day, occational MNspeaker (Taul)Paul Saarinen and his wife Annemarie, who I used to work with at HealthPartners.
Their newborn daughter, Eve, was born with heart problems, it has been a rough few weeks for them. Paul has been giving regular updates on little Eve on Twitter.

Speaking of bacon …
“Bacon and Sons Ford of Hermosa Beach became one of the biggest Ford dealers west of the Mississippi … Their billboards carried drawings of a slab of bacon.”
