TC Sidewalks offers a photo essay of some of our cities’ buskers. Are there any local street musicians you are always happy to see? Any you flee from? I’m particularly fond of the saxophonist in downtown Mpls who will play four or five notes of a recognizable melody, say, “Danny Boy,” and then lose the melody, and then lose the rhythm, and then pretend to improvise for a while, and then get back to something recognizable, very briefly. It seems like he has been saxomophoning on Nicollet Mall for a decade, so it’s rather amazing he’s never managed to learn one complete melody.

Let’s not forget those legendary Minnesota street musicians, Būsker Dū!

The guy on the mall on campus has to go.

Nicollet Mall is hopping with them, especially during the late work day… I need to spend more time down there soaking it in.

It’s art, Max. Art! And, like any true artist, he’s starving.

This is perfect timing, has anyone else noticed the new addition to the musicians on Nicollet Mall of a younger guy that walks around playing his electric guitar ‘acoustically’? He’s obviously rocking out, but all you here is the tinking of his strings.

Don’t have a favorite, but approve of all of it. Wish there was more around here, especially stand-up base.
I bet the busking scene is really bustling in Copenhagen!
When I’ve lived in cities with subways, however, there is definitely some music I do not like, which you learn quickly on a stuffy train with loud bad music.

Terrible accordian players today in Uptown. Pathetic. They have no pride.
They want money for playing that badly?– Why?
Is it too much to ask for guitar players to Tune the Damn Thing?
