The cities of Falcon Heights, Edina and Minnetonka are using Twitter to notify their residents of snow emergencies, sewer backups and other important information. Although, most of the time they will be letting residents know what they had for lunch or complaining about neighboring cities, hoping that those cities aren’t on Twitter. Strib via Fark

Actually, I like the idea. It’s definitely a better (and more accessible) idea for emergencies than these “code red” and reverse 911 systems that require being able to use a telephone.

The next thing you know, there will be @Fake_Edina bitching about Bloomington or bragging abou how awesome it is to be rich. Or maybe that’s would @Edina actually does.

It would be useful to just be able to check Twitter for snow emergencies and whatnot. I’m all for more ways of communicating information.

Real Edina could not care less about Bloomington, Mtka, et al. Fake Edina or New Edina might care, but they should be disregarded as utterly as Real Edina disregards Bloomington, et al.
Now, back to supervising the help. Bye!
