After reading both the strib and the pioneer press story and not having attended I am left with the following takeaways.

1. Parents/adults will always have a disconnect between reality and perceived sexuality of musicians.

2. Most modern musical stars can perform or they can sing, very few can do both.

Contemporary pop music, on the whole, is less about music than it is about “style.” What Miley does, however, is no different than the bubblegum the Boomers worshipped in the ’60s and ’70s (e.g. the Archies, David Cassidy, Leif Garrett, etc.), so I don’t know what it was that Raihala was expecting. Teeny bop will always be teeny bop. Why do some adults think it should be more than what it is: Marketing?
