Where’s Proctor, MN? Oh, there it is.

And I guess we should now begin fearing our feline overlords now. And ferrets.

The H1N1 is such a slut! Is there nothing it won’t try? Cats, pigs, ferrets, what’s next? People?

Given all we’ve been told and all we’re supposed to believe about threat level of this flu, one would think there should have been no way that the State Health Department could even allow a State Fair this year.

Oh come on, nothing about Franken’s hot aides?

“Usually they are behind me so they also get the benefit of a soft focus.”

I think there’s something to the hot aides for MN senators thing. I worked for Dayton for a summer in DC and at least 30 of his 35 staff were women. The U.S. capitol is probably the greatest collection of rich attractive people on the planet (minus all the actual legislators).

Doesn’t Michelle Bachmann have an aide that made some list of Washington’s Most Beautiful People?

Anyone remember that episode of the West Wing where all of the speechwriters quit so the head communications guy hires a bunch of hot interns, dresses them in football jerseys, and refers to them by number?

The Rat was right. Her name is Debbee Keller, 24. And that’s how she spells her first name: Two B’s and Two E’s.

Sorry it’s three E’s.

We’ve raised a whole generation of people who can’t spell.

;)

“Given all we’ve been told and all we’re supposed to believe about threat level of this flu.”

Fifteen Minnesotans have died, Rat. Many more have been hospitalized. What more proof do you require?

@justpbob: When I heard that number on the news this morning, but first thought was “How many people in Minnesota die each year from seasonal flu?” But, then, I thought, “Except that H1N1 has the potential of killing people who aren’t normally susceptible to season flu.” That’s a major concern.

So, Rat, H1N1 is serious if only because so much about it is still unknown. Also, its communicability appears to be more serious than that of a seasonal flu. Talk with someone who has already been through the wringer with H1N1 and they will tell you a seasonal flu is a walk in the park compared to a “normal” flu.

The seasonal flu hasn’t even hit yet. As you know, some years are worse than others, and unlike HIN1 cases, which are being tracked by the CDC, deaths related to seasonal flu are not tracked.

While H1N1 may have peaked locally, no one knows if it will come back, or in what form. That’s the scary thing about influenza. That damn virus really seems to WANT to kill us. And it’s good at it.

I had probable h1n1 a couple weeks ago. I called the dr. office and spoke with a nurse for 5 minutes or so. She said it can be hard to tell as symptoms can include NO fever (as in my case). Anyway, I wasn’t horribly sick, and she told me to stick with home care and monitor carefully. I got better after 4 days, but still had to take it very easy for another 4 days or so. I’ve definitely been a lot sicker in my life. Still, they say it can escalate quickly, the nurse emphasized that.

Got me wondering about the number of people not officially diagnosed. Not factored into any stats.

@jane: What were your other symptoms?

Probably nothing that some Japanese curry couldn’t cure. ;)

Fatigue, no appetite, headache, cough, aches. But no fever or nausea!

@jane: Ah, heck. I feel like that all the time. lol

Btw, Rat, “only” 15 Minnesotans may have died from H1N1 so far but the list is longer in some other states. Los Angeles County alone has had 57 since April; 13 since the beginning of October.
