The 2008 Minneapolis/St. Paul Republican National Convention Host Committee will soon disband and hand over close to $7 million in leftover funds to three local foundations: the Minneapolis Foundation, the St. Paul Foundation, and the Minnesota Community Foundation (the last two being under one umbrella).
Clearly, the money will come in handy, but how do we feel about this … uh… controversial convention being the source of so much community funding?

Where else would money go? Back into the pockets of the contributors on a proportional basis? IMHO, I would rather see unspent funds like these go into doing some public good … since the GOP seems incapable of doing so on the legislative level. At least it’s not going toward paying Norm Coleman’s court costs. lol

I’m suprised they didn’t spend it on 5mil worth of tasers and keep another 2mil in reserves for the lawsuits.

Great idea, if you ask me, and I guess you did.

Enh, at least some good came out of it. Eventually.
