Spoken like a true drunk. Where’s the White Castle?

I was hoping it would be batter fried and served with Ranch dressing.

So last night I was logged in, now this morning I’m logged out. wtf stupid new MNSpeak.

Captcha: Satin Madman.

That’s what I was last night, baby, yeah!

I think Captcha will create all the world’s band names from now on.

First, let’s get to the most important news of the day: RIP, Betty Page. (wipes tear)

Second: the MNSpeak/SOTC story (and Sparber interview) is live at MinnPost. Go take a look. Bunny is already mixing it up there with a critic in the comments section.

Third:Hard to concentrate — they are playing “Putting on the Ritz” on the radio — can’t help cracking up when I hear that song…

Links to Betty Page (safe for work!) and Putting on the Ritz..

There’s a fly in my tea that wasn’t there when I put the mug in the microwave.

Will Smith is in town today. One of the few Hollywood “stars” today who has actually earned that title.

they had me at:
“Step 1: Weave Bacon”

Satin Madman here.

I just wanted to go on record as one of the people who loves Max Sparber.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG! Bacon and cheese roll — the yule log of the new generation! A holiday tradition since 2008!

Who is that guy getting all over Max’s bidness in that blog cabin thread?

If I read his comments correctly, it seems no one comes here anymore, and we might as well close up shop.

Wait, if the numbers are abysmal, and I still comment here, AND I wear short-sleeved turtlenecks… oh shit, I am a LOSER!!!!! Crap!

I don’t know who David Cater is either, kurtis, other than he comments on MinnPost from time to time.

 On subjects like insane squirrels.

I saw will smith’s tour bus at the b96 studios…two black escalades blocking the entrance to the building and a couple of serious looking fellas in black overcoats keeping watch over everything.

They VIPed his ride!

Satin Madman here.

Any Wii owners out there ever experience searing shoulder pain for days on end after playing Wii for an hour or two?

Nope. I had joystick thumb all over my body after the first day, but nothing I’d call “searing” or “for days.” You might have torn something, Kev. You might want to have that checked.

More news out of Wisconsin. Huh? That’s Minnesota? :double checks byline: That’s got to be a mistake.

No searing shoulder pain here, either. Of course, when I play Guitar Hero I stand there more like a member of Devo than flailing around like Pete Townshend.

Has anyone here ever taken kids to a Twins spring training game?

Our family is going to be near Ft. Myers in March and I’m trying to figure out if it would be a good outing for our two boys (2 and 4). The 4 year old would have no problem watching the game for a couple of hours. But the 2 year old is going to need some room to run around. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Satin Madman here.

Yeah, I was kinda wondering that. My shoulders are my best body part so I it’s not like their sore from being out of shape or anything. This feels like something in the muscle, as I still have a full range of movement.

Miller, the Twins ballpark in Ft Myers is really family friendly. There is plenty of room to move around, especially if it’s not the first game of spring training because the stadium will probably have open bleachers near the back. It’s a great decision, btw, a really fun vacation and not too expensive. The town is laid back and easy to get around in, there’s a beach really close by, and the games themselves are fun. You’ll have a blast, and I’m jealous. It’s one of the best vacations I ever had.

Try to make a BoSox game if you can, too. They have a great ballpark.

@justbob Re: Bettie Page. I contend that, along with B Rubble, Bettie Page provided the prototype look for our dear friend Diablo Cody at the Oscars. It’s all in the hairdo … and elsewhere.

RIP Bettie.

Miller, taking kids to spring training is great fun. Not like it used to be, when we took Matt when he was five and he got to talk to Tony Oliva and Kirby Puckett after the game, but still good. The real fun is not going to the games, but going to the facility early in the morning when the players, including the minor leaguers, are working out, doing drills, taking BP. That’s the time you can actually get close to the players and talk to them. A lot of them will just hang by the fence during breaks and talk to fans.

OK I am not trying to be mean but the guy who write “Blog Cabin” kind of looks like the grampa from the Munsters.

We saw that movie about Bettie Page. It was pretty good.

So, yeah, the first time I’m in a news article (cough) and I’m grossly misquoted from published comments. Reading is fun!

Satin Madman here.

Welcome to the big leagues, alie.

Ouch,I could feel my arteries clogging just looking at the pictures. I feel less healthy for having seen that.

Not really surprising that Diablo would put out a Betty Page/Betty Rubble vibe, noodleman.

Both are kinda “bad girl next door” kinda looks.

That’s okay, AC. I get misquoted all the time.

At least they spelled Aliecat correctly.

Some days ago I complained in this forum that there seemed to be a HUGE number of refected absentee ballots from the last election (as part of a discussion on the Franken/Coleman recount).

Today, word from the SOS that more than 600 of these should not have been rejected at all!

They are still going though the absentee ballots to see if there are more improperly rejected ballots.

refected = rejected.

AG office says they should be counted, but only if both campaigns sign off on them, in writing.

I’m guessing that it will take a lawsuit to get them counted. I don’t see the Coleman campaign agreeing to have them included.

anyone else tailgating in Phoenix pre-vikes on Sunday? Look me up.

Will Smith will run for President in 2016, or will he wait until 2020?

Kurtis & Tom – thanks for the advice re: Twins spring training with kids.

I really want to include the boys, but I don’t want to ruin anyone else’s experience by bringing a toddler who can’t sit still. I’m thinking the “lawn seating” on the 1st base line might work.

Shouldn’t have looked at that bacon and cheese roll before lunch. Unappetizing as hell. Worst thing The Rat has seen since that picture of the Turducken.

I think when Will Smith became a scientologist, he may have kissed his chances good bye for any political aspirations. I could be wrong…

@justbob Oh? I didn’t know Betty Rubble had tattoos? She did spend a lot of time in the kitchen, though. Wonder what she was, uh, cookin’?

It’s spring training. Not the Minnesota Opera. Iwouldn’t worry about that.

Betty Rubble was a saucy little prehistoric tomato.

As for the tats, who knew what she had under that hide dress of hers.

My guess: half of Bedrock knew…

And clueless Barney didn’t know that half of Bedrock knew.

anyone else tailgating in Phoenix pre-vikes on Sunday? Look me up.

No, but I may make the drive from here in the Atlanta area to Florence, AL to watch the UMD Bulldogs play in the Division II national football championship!   14-0 so far!

But neither Barney nor Fred minded, really. Did you ever wonder where they got all that energy needed to foot-power their cars? Yup. Betty’s kitchen. (It wasn’t called the Methozoic period for nothing!) Made for some nice extra income, too, when Slate would do holiday lay-offs.

I just received a call from Ron Gardenhire reminding me to send in my seat relocation preference sheet for Target Field. I’m very excited about the new season and can’t wait for 2010.

If anyone is interested in buying into a portion of my season tickets for 2009 and 2010 let me know! My seats are currently in section 133 row 10.

That explains all the “Bam Bam” being heard next door….

Headline: Wrongfully rejected absentee ballots could near 1,600.

Epic FAIL. It looks now after the recount that our voting machines, for the most part, work very well.

It is clear to me that we have a real problem with our absentee voting, and how these ballots are treated once they arrive.

Let’s fix this, Minnesota. Time to stand up and do the right thing. Who wins the Senate seat is secondary — the main thing is fix this, before the next election.

Speaking of MinnPost (way up the thread, at 7:15 this morning), did anybody notice that they got mentioned – but not linked – on Seth Godin’s blog? Perhaps nobody cares, but Seth’s blog is consistently in the top 15 most popular blogs on planet earth.

First Betty Page, now Van Johnson!

Going to have to watch my DVD of “30 Seconds Over Tokyo” tonight.

RIP, Van.

Satin Madman here.

The date on the title is wrong. It should be 12.12.08.

My birthday is on Sunday, I’m having an impromptu party at Grumpy’s DT starting at 9pm tomorrow, if your interested…come out and have a drink or 10.

…come out and have a drink or 10.

What are you, 19?

Satin Madman here.

How impromptu is it if you have it planned a day in advance?

Thanks for the open invite, Alie. I won’t be able to make it, but I hope it’s a merry celebration whether you have one drink or ten.

Kevin, it’s impromptu because I usually send out the invite a month in advance due to my birthday being so close to Christmas.

I’m going to binge drink pop and water on Saturday.

It’s a recession, y’all.
