Peanuts from the day I was born… you can use the link above to find your own, unless you born before October 1950.

What? — you guys can’t actually finish a book?

I’ve read entire books all the way through all by myself, mostly silently, and I’m talking about books with chapters, not picture books. So nuts on you!

Sorry but I have to bail on this tonight. I’m trying to complete some web work so I can bill asap. (Preservation-mode now, what with all the broadcasting turmoil.) I was really looking forward to this, too! :(

This is my “birthday strip,” not to be confused with a “birthday suit.”

Cripes. This does not bode well for my HTML abilities. LOL

Peanuts from 9/27/1955

Unfortunately, the 6 inches of expected snow may keep me away.

Yeah, I was wondering if this would get snowed out. Please check in if you do intend to come! (I’m already on campus, so I’ll definitely be there if others are coming.)

Planning on it unless the weather terrorists are right. Not that I’m afraid of 6″ of snow, but the drive from EP would take forever.

I’ve been looking forward to a burger and won’t be in a big hurry to drive home, so I reckon I’ll go there for dinner regardless and just see if anyone showeth uppeth.

It is against my illiterate ways to show up to things like this. People actually reading things — on purpose — sounds like a bad idea. In any event, since I carpool, I would have to wander home first and then come back. Weather permitting I may be there, or I may not. Regardless, I plan on doing the Christmas Special dance.

Sadly, I can’t make it tonight.

I’ll be making rage toffee, bummed to miss this.

Hey, has anyone read The Yiddish Policeman’s Union? Worth it? I’ve read about 20 pages and am not that into it yet.

It’s in my very large stack of books to read, Jane. I loved Kavalier and Clay but have yet to really be wowed by any of Chabon’s follow up novels. I should have loved Summerland for the magical/baseball aspects but was kind of meh.

Let me amend that to say that Chabon’s Sherlock Holmes book was lovely.

I loved K&C too, and am okay with the Yiddish one not being as good. I have the Yiddish one in hardcover from the library, and I’m in the mood for a novel, so I guess I’ll give it a whirl.

Doug: thanks for the Peanuts song.

I knew exactly the dance you meant, Doug.

YPU takes a it to get into but it does pick up a bit once you get into it. I read it the summer b4 last when it came out.

Chabon’s Maps and Legends is worth it just for the dust jacket alone.  It is a wonderful 3 layer die cut job.  When you remove each layer it exposes hidden treasures!

I ordered 2666: A Novel by Roberto Blano last week.  I hope it shows up today!  I’m just pages from finishing Holidays on Ice by D Sedaris.

If this gets snowed out, I’m definitely interested in attending another night.

I’m open to rescheduling but feel some responsibility to people who might have committed to come and won’t see a cancelation notice. So I’ll go and eat and see if anyone shows and come back and report my findings.

Weather not withstanding, something has come up, and I cannot make it. Curse you red baron!!!

Kurtis- judging by the traffic maps I don’t think I would get there before 7… I’d be up for rescheduling

Understood, Melissa. Eden Prairie is far! I’ll post resked info soon, and I wouldn’t want anyone to risk life and/or limb to be there.

I’ll still drop in because I’m close, I’m hungry, and I don’t want anyone who shows up to be confused and upset.

Yeah, I’m determined not to get in my car again so I’m out too.

We left shortly after six, so sorry if we missed anyone. It seemed like a long shot.

I’ll try to reschedule something after the holidays. It’ll be pretty touch and go for me for the rest of the month, since I have a big project due on January 5.

Indeed, Rat’s right. I’m finding it hard to read a full-sized books these days. Mainly because I’m writing one.

Here’s some reading material coming to town. Kinda old, though.
