Minnesotans and gay rights

And yet DADT and DOMA are still on the books…

A comic had a point tonight about how it’s stupid to put “openly” in front of gay. He’s right. Although, if we as a society insist on putting “openly” in front of gay, then I think we should also be putting “closeted” in front of it as well.

Maybe we can use “openly” for all sorts of other things, too. “Openly douchebag,” “openly courteous,” “openly okey dokey …”

From the Paulsen story:

“I disdain racism, sexism and bigotry,” wrote (Rep. John) Kline in a recent press release. “But under this legislation, any pastor, preacher, priest, rabbi or imam who gives a sermon out of their moral traditions about sexual practices could be found guilty of a federal crime.”

If that sermon is “God wants you to kill the gays,” shouldn’t they be convicted of a federal crime?

The gay mashall discusion reminds me of “Marshal Nalhober” in the movie Happy, Texas.

Not to make light of gay marriage rights but, sheesh, you can’t even get married in Louisiana if you’re heterosexual but the races don’t match.

We still have a long, long way to go in this country when it comes to tolerance and respect.

now, now, nood. You need to learn to show a little more tolerance to the racists.
