I tink Andy look dahlink, Comrade кролик.

That’s some mad shit.

Da, Comrade Rat!

Re Metroblogging post: It’s the rare Northen Rubber Tree.

Didn’t the Clintons put condoms and crack pipes on the White House Christmas Tree? That’s what that CIA guys said.

The CIA said there were WMDs in Iraq, too, Rat.

Did you and Mrs. Rat make it too the MIA to see the Musée du Louvre traveling exhibit? We went Sunday morning. I would be interested in your impression. Any favs?

Didn’t go. Too nice a day. Pushed it off to next week.

It was nice to see the sun on Sunday. Took the dog for a long walk both days, managed to chop some leaves for the compost pile.

Andy sure knows how to bring the sexy!

Every ecosystem depends on diversity, but the majority of its members are going to be pretty generic. I think chains have their place, some are just better than others.

The Uptown and Lagoon theaters are part of the Landmark Theatres chain.
The Running Room is another stealth chain.
Nobody would say a new Ragstock “suburbanizes” their neighborhood.
Weigh the Y(W/M)CA against the alternatives.

Meanwhile:
The Perkins was replaced with expensive apartments… and indie shop space.
The Uptown Diner (itself part of a small string of restaurants) replaced a Burger King.

Elsewhere, there are several locations for The Bulldog, Grumpy’s Pub, an ill-fated Uptown II in Owatonna, Brasa, Frattalone’s ACE Hardware (the new one on Hennepin kicks ass), and I’ll just stop there. Would these be unwelcome in other neighboroods?

“I think chains have their place…”

Kinky!

I make it a priority to frequent local businessess. My favorite is the local hardware store, 2 minutes from my house, instead of Home Depot or Menards, 15+ minutes away. Easy!

That said, I wonder what people around here think about frequenting Target and Best Buy? They are headquartered here, and frequenting those businesses helps our neighbors keep their jobs.

Ditto on frequenting small local hardware stores Jane…the old timers can be little grumpy but they always got what I need….even though its tiny. too bad the “Munchie” store that opened up next door looks so lame and it isn’t open on sundays.

Yeah, when I saw Munchie, I thought of you (and miller, who I think lives in SLP too) and wondered if you’d been there yet. Terrible sign. I will stop in to check it out.

I walk buy that place almost everyday when I take my dog for walks…still haven’t been in. It looks from the outside like a lunch lady decided to open up a vending machine without the automation. It’s never open when I walk by in the morning either….I would think if they sold decent coffee and pastries it could make a killing with the “drop off the kids at highschool” crowd.

Walking a dog eh? You might see me walking an adorable Irish Wolfhound-looking dog (not a huge one, he’s mixed with black lab). If so, say hello. What’s your dog?

We have bored everyone else off this thread. Sorry everyone.

A black lab doberman mix….he looks like this.

Jane I don’t see a ton of black lab in angus….do you have a make believe dog??…admit it you just stole that pic from google images.

Also just cause you threw an extra vowel in doesn’t mean that you didn’t name your dog after AC/DC

He looks mostly like an Irish Wolfhound, but he is a lot smaller.

Not sure if this link to photos will work…

Jane, isn’t that the cute dog from Europe? Did he move to America? I want to cuddle him! (I remember pics from FB. I never forget a cute puppy!)

That’s a cool looking doggie, jane.

Yes, he moved (back) to America! He’s about the best dog ever.

Yay! America can always use another cute dog. He’s so adorable.

That pic of just his face is pretty cute…so your a surrogate doggy mommy?

I’ll take those photos and raise you one prozac puppy

@ryanl: Arrrrrrrrrrr … ruff!

More like an aunt or a stepmom.

Yay! America can always use another cute dog.

Wow, that’s almost exactly the same as my slogan: Yay! America can always use one less dog.

Eerie, isn’t it?

This is one of those times I wish I still lived in Uptown, because I REALLY WANT MCDONALD’S RIGHT NOW.
