… or what little he still had. Douchebag or asshat? You decide:
Litigious Inver Grove Heights strip club owner faces IRS: Tom Stanton, an Inver Grove Heights business owner who has known Kladek for years, recalled a time when friends of his were trying to close on a property sale with Kladek. But the closing bogged down. Kladek, he said, held it up for nearly a half-hour — over a $2 difference in price. “Frankly, a woman had a $2 bill and she put it in just so they could move ahead,” Stanton said.
“I could talk for an hour and a half about him, and not much of it would be good,” he said. “So I really don’t want to. There is no upside to me.”

Looking at the Strib comments on this story, it looks like someone called “Limitedgovt” –whose comment has been removed? — went on an anti-smoking ban rant.
Huh?
1:32 pm
Who need limited government, anyway?
1:35 pm
I read that comment from limitedgovt this morning. I think he forgot to line his Helga Hat with foil like he has in his Twins cap.

I (heart) The Rat.
It would seem that I’m responsible for the current recession, according to limitedgovt.
I’m confused. Should I have done more Christmas shopping that weekend? Seen the new Bond film again? Throw another dollar in the tip jar at Hope’s Chineese?

How about we make the government unlimited! Since it would be everything it could not be defined particularly.

If you have been watching the headlines lately, I think you may be getting your wish…

(what in the world do these comments have to do with this story??!?)
“Douchebag or asshat?”
I wouldn’t call him either. I would call him a businessman. But many independent businessmen are asshats. I don’t consider that a bad thing. But he is in a rather different line of business… The guy who bitched about the $2 that his “friends” lost (whether its true or not) sounds bitter.
(I’ve actually met the guy reviewing a possible contract for his $6 million house)

Yoshi, it’s possible to be a business man and not be a complete asshole to people. Arguing over $2 in what was likely a very large transaction shows complete lack of respect for everyone’s time.
Yet he once sued a former employee over $44.31. He sued a one-time housemate for, among other things, not returning some pillows and a coat rack. Once, he cursed out a sheriff’s deputy trying to seize a woman’s car and threw the keys onto the roof of his strip club.
He is probably relieved he finally was caught. Carrying around a chip on your shoulder the size of Idaho has got to be exhausting. I can’t believe that he is actually married.

I don’t know why you are pinning the guilt on this guy for arguing over 2 bucks. A contract is a contract, plus, an argument needs two parties.
The other guy could have been refusing to pay the two bucks, which could be viewed as an equal waste of people’s time.
I don’t doubt that he’s a slimy guy but your logic here confuses me.
I have been the the KOD a few times, it;’s nasty, yet strangely exhilarating. Plus when you see how much money these girls make it helps you feel less wrong for being there.

@yoshi: Sorry, but I don’t have much sympathy for the guy. Not because of what he owns and operates but because he has an “must always win at whatever cost” attitude. (Known in Singapore as being “kiasu.”) Commerce requires both give and take; he seems to want to take it all and give little. Two dollars?! C’mon, now. That’s NOT being a businessman, yoshi. That’s being an asshole.

Are you figuring in the mandatory stage fees, house fees, and tip outs, etc. that the dancers have to pay?
10:42 pm
Is there actually a court in this country that would allow a suit to continue over 41 goddamn dollars? I’m not sure who to shake my finger at, this greedy, slimy son of a bitch (and all strip club owners are, I have no doubt…nature of the biz), or the judge who didn’t throw him out of the courtroom on his overentitled ass.

They’re all using that money to put themselves through college, too, ya know.

Once again, mnblrmkr shows a surprising depth of familiarity with the stripping industry

It’s a little known fact that mnblrmkr was once a Chippendale Dancer.

I used to work for him and he’s an ass. As a former waitperson and bartender getting even on day off was a fight. I worked there for 6 years and was never allowed to have a vacation. I was stuck cause I was a single mom and needed the money. Which he even took a % of. I pray that he gets what is coming to him!
