Probably not, but at least one forensic expert think it might: Not only does Wolter believe the stone is real and that it predates Christopher Columbus by more than 130 years, he also has come to the startling conclusion that the stone was carved by the Order of the Knights Templar, a medieval European military group, as a land claim for much of eastern North America.
Read on for the Holy Grain connection, which is metaphoric, rather than literal.

How can people believe it is real? The people who faked it and planted it have admitted it was a fake. Dumb.

I, for one, want the truth about the Holy Grain Belt connection.
Baring that, I’ll accept the truth on the Holy Sansabelt connection, literal or not.

Something about this was just on the History Channel … which does not do a whole lot for its credibility.
Re: “Holy Grain connection.” LOL Apropos for Minnesota.

@kc!: When did Olof Ohman admit to a hoax?
1:40 pm
noodleman, my internet research is failing me. I used to work for the West Central Minnesota Historical Research Center and it was known that it was a hoax admitted to. I’d have to contact the prof up there that new all the history to find the documentation. I think Olof didn’t do the hoax, but some friends of his.
Damn, I hope I’m right on this. Now I feel dumb spewing the info.

@kc!
I hadn’t heard it was admitted to being a hoax either. My good friend is Andy Awes, the guy that did the documentary for the history channel.

Nothing in the Wikipedia article even alludes to a hoax being admitted by the person (Olof) who discovered the runestone on his property. There is plenty of mention wrt the ongoing debate over its authenticity but no admission of it being a prank.
According to Wikipedia, Olof himself claims to have found the runestone, so it would be hard for one of his friends to claim otherwise.

Okay, I’m clearly smoking crack. I swear it has been admitted to be a hoax, but I have no proof. Therefore you should not listen to me.
And my understanding is that yes, Olof claimed to find it, and in fact did, but his friends made it and planted it knowing he would be digging there.

Though I’m emailing my Minnesota History professor RIGHT NOW to see if I’m remembering this correctly at all.

The truth should be heard but we must first find someone truthful and willing to tell the truth. The Stone is original its already been tested I just want the translation so I can continue my quest.
