Despite the good weather and the holiday season, this month seems to be filled with hopelessness for too many people. So, in an attempt to lift some spirits, I’m sticking with good news today.
Let’s see…
Sure, James E. Jensen stole close to $26,000 from the Sons of the American Legion in Apple Valley to pay off gambling debts, but he just paid back every last cent!
Sure, a number of Lutheran churches are leaving the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America because of their August decision to allow gay pastors to serve as clergy, but the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Minneapolis is bucking the trend by increasing “benevolence” payments to the Church.
And then there are the Coleman-Franken bobbleheads. They’re bound to make anyone’s day, right? (Though, frankly, I still prefer the Larry Craig one.)
University of Minnesota sophomore Mallory Weggermann set a world record in the Women’s 400 Meter Freestyle last night in the International Paralympic Committee Swimming World Championships in Rio de Janeiro.
Minnesota Viking Coach Brad Childress is well on his way to becoming coach of the year.
And it seems our Christmas tree is lit.
Happy December, everyone. The sun is out and it’s a beautiful day. Enjoy! And don’t forget our happy hour this afternoon.

Grinchy Grincherson here, there doesn’t seem to be anything wonderful about cutting down or manufacturing a disposable, decorative, energy-sucking tree.
A Festivus pole provides minimal clutter, lasts forever, and is 100% recyclable.

I bought a narrower artificial tree for my house a few years ago. It works out perfect. Flame retardant and doesn’t take up the entire living room. This year for the tree trimming party I had people bring non-traditional yet X-mas inspired trinkets for ornaments. Received a nice Hamm’s Bottle opener, a Home Alone VHS box, a small gum hotdog and hamburger and other fun items.

We buy ours at the same lot from the same guys every year. They set up shop in a lot near the Wilde Roast and spend their days in something that looks like a fish house. I’m looking forward to getting a tree and setting it up this weekend.

I like that little lot near Wilde Roast. It makes that 2 line terminal extra-festive.
