Police spokesman Jesse Garcia responded Wednesday that Vue is also listed throughout the police report as the “reporting party” — the person who called police to come retrieve the found weapon. Garcia said that was Vue’s only role in the matter and that the report erroneously listed him as the gun’s “owner” because the computer program in use at the time required that the “owner” blank be filled in on the form.

And we’re to believe that the operator wouldn’t key in “John Doe” or “Unknown” in the ‘owner’ field, as opposed to using the name of the citizen who called in the report? If so, that act of bureaucratic ineptitude itself ought to be grounds for a lawsuit….

And more questions today, this time about irregular treatment of the patrol-car video and apparent gaps in same:

An expert witness hired by Fong Lee’s family said there was “blank time” on the tape that “raises the question of tampering.”
