Ooo, Friday the 13th! I would provide fodder for scary thoughts, but there’s enough of that in the news. So… I came across two lists (and we all love lists, don’t we?) that struck me as amusing. One was two dolla’s Worst Songs of 2004 (though ‘84 would be so much easier), and the other was The Dependent Clause’s Best of the Decade, part 2. How about we mix it up and come up with our own Worst Songs of the Decade (2000s) list? That’s pretty scary.

Pretty shameful to put Drop it Like It’s Hot on a “worst of” anything list. Probably the last great song Snoop will ever make. Obviously it’s the Neptunes that carry the song, though–the beat is one of my favorite ever, Chad and Pharrell at the top of their game.
9:13 am
There’s some pretty good songs on that list, nood.
@aliecat Did you see Fringe last night? That show is consistently increasing in quality of acting, writing and storyline.
9:18 am
“1984 had worse songs than 2004? Au contraire:”
Well, that’s just like, you know, your opinion.
9:18 am
My office is listening to The Who from a 1969 show at the Guthrie. Not too shabby.
9:19 am
Funny history of coffee: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/coffee
9:22 am
@kwatt how can you stand the actor that plays the dad on that show?
9:27 am
The 1984 list does have Hall and Oats and Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton… However, there is some pretty good stuff there!
9:29 am
Sure. It’s not like these days when 90 percent of the music is crud.
9:31 am
@ryanl I think John Noble plays the role brilliantly, in fact I even noted that to myself last night. Walter is one of my favourite characters on TV.
9:32 am
“favourite”
Who are you, Winston Churchill?

Metro Mag offers brief history of Friday the 13th: http://bit.ly/1c9qIA

@kwatt to each his own…IMHO that show is like remaking X-files except it’s worse.
10:15 am
Look, fellas, I’ll be straight with you: I’m not here to troll.
I’ll spell it out: CATS IN SINKS HAS BEEN HACKED, I repeat, CATS IN SINKS HAS BEEN HACKED!!!
State of universal crisis!
The guys who hacked it do have a forum which I would troll, touble is, I’m kinda worried they’d gimme a virus. All I need is your advice and a reliable translation service (they’re Turkish).
You’ll probably just delete this, but oh well, thanks for reading the first two words.
10:19 am
@DouglasG: Neither does a song list from 2004.
@kwatt: 1983-1985 were awesome music years for radio. I don’t think there’s been a string of consecutive years like it since then. Although, I suppose, it’s whatever floats your boat.
10:20 am
My advice? Take a couple days off from the cats in sinks thing. There ARE other things on the internet, you know.
10:23 am
Cats in sinks….oh noes!
now I’ll have to go to Cats in Tubs…and that site just doesn’t cut it.
10:24 am
Yes, I know, but we just cannot allow people to destroy such a great site (yes I KNOW I’m a hypocrite, but (in the least threatening way possible) I STOPPED trolling you).
10:24 am
But Jane, cats in sinks is awesome! Alexis, where are you, your homepage used to be Cats in Sinks didn’t it?
10:25 am
Just out of interest, what happened to Sparber?
10:25 am
Also “jane” if I may call you that?
I/we realize that there ARE other things on the internet, but what we/(proverbial I) need ARE “things in things” or “things on things” or “things as metaphors” or….well you get the idea.
10:27 am
they ran him out of here cause he couldn’t grow a full beard. j/k but seriously…
10:28 am
Or, if any of you wish to participate more actively, join http://trollz.forumotion.net/ and I’ll mail you what, exactly, I plan to do.
10:29 am
duh duh duh
10:29 am
Hnah, I outlasted him. Lol
10:29 am
Of course cats in sinks are awesome! I have photos of cats in sinks saved on my computer so I can look at them when I need a fix.
10:30 am
I thought someone drowned this guy.
10:31 am
Anyway, I have a home to go to and a horse to visit, so see you dudes later. Or possibly never again. It all depends.
10:32 am
But its 10:30 in the morning!
10:33 am
How is there not a discussion here about last night’s MSPtweetup? you dorks are sleeping at the keyboard.
10:33 am
good luck with that
10:34 am
Not 10:30 where you are
10:34 am
Bacon?
Who says women don’t like bacon?
10:34 am
g rote did you re-create a har mar superstar set again?
10:35 am
Grote, I am speechless about the tweetup, that’s why. Did you just see Mark Cuban, or did you talk with him?
Reminds me, Jerry Seinfeld is in town with gigs tonight and tomorrow. Wonder where he’ll go for dinner?
10:36 am
Is that what your phantom comment was about
10:37 am
“Not 10:30 where you are”
V. funny
10:37 am
Thanks!
10:43 am
I don’t tweet, so why would I be bothered to talk about a tweetup? Now, there is a MNSpeak Wave…
10:43 am
ryanl, no…Mickey Avalon. and yes, that was what my phantom comment was about. I was going to hit the BDNE on the way home from grabbing some Emily’s Lebanese carry out last night. Figured I would knock one back with Andrew Eklund and look in on the tweetup while I was at it. But I couldn’t get a hold of Ek, remembered he quit drinking and couldn’t find a goddamned parking spot so I went home. After eating and putting the kids to bed I looked in on the tweetup only to find that Mark F-ing Cuban had made an appearance @ the BDNE.
10:51 am
NBA players have girlfriends and baby-mamas in every city. Mark Cuban seemingly has a harem of dorky dude friends in every city.
11:02 am
how many pitches a night you think that guy gets?
11:42 am
This is cool: The MN Zoo has a pregnant dolphin.
http://www.startribune.com/local/69980097.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUUJ
Even cooler, it appears that they have some time traveling hermaphrodite dolphins there.
From the Strib story:
“Allie, 22, arrived at the zoo in January 2008 and is on loan from the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago.
Semo, the father to be, has been at the zoo since 1991. He is 45 and is thought to be one of the oldest male dolphins in human care.”
Later at the end of the story they provide the additional information:
“Besides Allie and Semo, the Minnesota Zoo is home to dolphins April, 42, and Spree, 7. April is Allie’s mother, and Semo is Spree’s daughter.”
12:04 pm
Refreshing to hear that a prominent Gopher student athlete is not the suspected father of the dolphin.
12:11 pm
I think they hold him to 110 pitches or 7 innings.
1:40 pm
Are you happy.
3:33 pm
cause I got a half empty growler of Surly Furious in my office that would like to have words with me, if I aint.
4:28 pm
Have a good weekend everyone! I am out of here!
5:13 pm
Guess that means it’s time for the pizza and dancing girls?
5:35 pm
I’ve ordered the pizza, but I draw the line at dancing.
