I agree with max. The Funny or Die version is much better.

I feel like that steps on the Concords toes a little but I guess you can’t “own” lyrical comedy.

Know I am racking my brain trying to figure out my favorite funny song.

Obviously you have the concords, steve martin, tenacious d, spinal tap…what are ya’lls favorite?

Weird Al.. Classic, although some might find it offensive.

I just watched the original animated version of Cheech & Chong’s “Basketball Jones” on YouTube.

I had forgoten it was had so many racial caricatures. Yikes. I’m sure it was meant as parody, but still, I don’t think the boys would make that clip today.

Bob apparently doesn’t disapprove of all smoking if he’s watching Cheech and Chong at 9:00 am.

Aliecat, Cat, etc….
A while back I posted that my wife and I taking a road trip across the country for our honeymoon. We did, and it was awesome–Cat, thanks for suggesting the needles highway in Custer state park. Beautiful. Aliecat, thanks for suggesting that we camp in the Black hills. That is a very cool area, which I plan on getting back to. By chance, we were camping there during Sturgis, which was both fun and annoying.
And thanks to all other suggestions that were given–we had a blast.

PS…Has anyone been to great basin national park in Eastern Nevada?

@justpbob: I had forgoten it was had so many racial caricatures.

Look back at a lot more from the ’70s and you’ll remember how more open we were about our prejudice and bigotry, if only to make comedy so as to change our heads.

All In The Family? Would that show even be allowed on-air on cable nowadays if it were being pitched as a new series?

Richard Pryor & Chevy Chase with the classic word association SNL skit?

We weren’t so much laughing with them as we were laughing at ourselves.

“Let’s chat about this new federal law….”

Ugh, what a load of work for the second hand sellers.

What’s that thing called that you drop a bunch of words into and it turns into a picture of words?

NVM, found it.

my new reply for everything:
“And you want them to run our healthcare?”

I think you might find that comment on any given thread on the strib.

“Ugh, what a load of work for the second hand sellers.”

No mention of any types of centralized resource in place for people to check for recalled products…

How much time do you suppose they spent on writing and passing this law?

Idk, but it probably was some nitpicky law maker with mothing better to do.

I hear what you are saying, noodle, but I’ll also suggest that we as a country were a lot more openly prejudiced and bigoted back then.

I would also suggest that too many heads (and hearts) still need changing.

I, for one, prefer to look forward. I had a good time growing up in the 60s and 70s, but I don’t want to go back there. Better times are ahead of us.

Look back at a lot more from the ’70s and you’ll remember how more open we were about our prejudice and bigotry,

from one of my all time favorite movies, the bad news bears. forward to 1:20.  and remember, this was the trailer.

Idk, but it probably was some nitpicky law maker with mothing better to do.

One of the most dangerous animals out there.

I’m kind of hungry today, maybe I’ll have one of these:

Photobucket

Looks delicious, ryanl.
btw, why does the o in ur name randomly disappear?

some days I am more addictive than others

What is the perfect pairing for a garage sale?

I have to help out at one tomorrow and I was thinking either cheap beer or a nalgene full of “strip and go naked”

@ryanl: A box of wine. But don’t get all hoity-toity by buying something like pinot grigio.

Bring both. How sober do you have to be to “help out” at a garage sales?

not at all in fact I believe the social lubrication is what really brings out my superior sales skills.

a box of wine, maybe a pitcher of Sangria?

last year I attempted to sell a purple maglite flashlight as a vikings light sabre.

Madeline: I’m sorry, who are you again?
Fletch: I’m Frieda’s boss.
Madeline: Who’s Frieda?
Fletch: My secretary.

Ryanl, is the garage sale in SLP? If so, let me know where and I might show up!

Sailor Martin has some pretty funny songs.

Tom Waits’ Had Me a Girl is chuckle-worthy.

Final Countdown is funny just b/c I love Arrested Development so much (it’s GOB’s theme song).

Ryanl, anything good that we should come out for?

Just back from Chipotle. I want to take a nap.

I don’t like most funny songs. I think they’re too silly.

YOU’RE too silly.

Another institution lost to Progress?

I hardly ever sing beer drinking songs. They’re too beer drinky.

I won’t shed tears over losing the Uptown Bar.

I just found out (after reading this in the Strib) that I used to hang out with a couple members of Idle Hands. I haven’t heard them play yet because my ears are pretty much stuck to MPR, KBEM and KFAI, but I think I’ll try to catch a show next month.

@Kwatt: hence the name “Beer drinking song”. English have the best beer drinking songs.. It’s something else to hear them spontaneusly burst into song.

The garage sale is on adams in hopkins, as for good stuff…not sure I don’t think so or I would be keeping it but heh once persons trash is anothers treasure.

English have the best beer drinking songs.

Our national anthem’s music is from an English pub song:

[From Wikipedia] “The poem was set to the tune of a popular British drinking song, written by John Stafford Smith for the Anacreontic Society, a men’s social club in London. “The Anacreontic Song” (or “To Anacreon in Heaven”), set to various lyrics, was already popular in the United States. Set to Key’s poem and renamed “The Star-Spangled Banner”, it would soon become a well-known American patriotic song.”

A Corvette drinks the Kool-Aid on a summer day.

Jason DeRusha asks,

“Is this a man or a woman?”

Jason inquired with such beautiful precision and awkward familiarity; I was left to wonder why this oft-spoken question had never moved my soul in such a way before.

Is the date wrong in this title? 10.21.09?

Okay, here’s the jinx update:

I owe Josie, Amber and now Bob a Coke
Josie owes Ang a Coke
Cat owes Douglas a Coke
Max owes Alie a Coke
Grote owes Max a Coke
g3rg owes Bix a Coke.

I think there’s another one that I may have missed.

I was left to wonder why this oft-spoken question had never moved my soul in such a way before.

You’ve never visited Thailand, have you, dirt-e? It’s an oft-asked question there.

I’m starting to think there’s no enforcement mechanism in place for payment of these owed Cokes Kwatt has been keeping track of.

Also, Kwatt, is Mary Jane’s cat dead or has it always been a fake cat? My friend and I seem to have missed that backstory and I said that I knew someone (you) who’d probably know.

Dead.

Did she have it stuffed or is it magically preserved? And, if so, who stuffed it. Also, how’d it die. Also, does Mary Jane have a wikipedia page that would be easier for me to check (not in the mood to check on phone)?

Heh, Kwatt looks you you kinda suck at the jinx game..

Hmm. The news release I sent out yesterday spawned a story in the Strib this AM. The comments section should be fun.
