I think we need to shut down all media. They have abdicated completely their responsibility for reporting news.

7:37 am
Good luck, Shopgirl.
7:39 am
Yikes indeed, shopgirl. Hope all turns out well.
Me? Going to Watkins, MN to peddle my miracle fuel, 2-5 p.m. Jack’s BP, 85 cent per gallon discount.
7:49 am
As The Rat mentioned yesterday, the government has put the breaks on its week-old “Cash for Clunkers” program we discussed earlier.
A government program that was popular and successful….who could have seen it coming?
7:55 am
Thanks kurtis and jpbob… fingers crossed it goes ok!
7:58 am
Free money is usually popular and successful, Bob.
Gppd luck, shopgirl.
7:59 am
New bar opens near The Rat’s & cubbie’s hood today.
8:03 am
Good luck with all that.
8:18 am
I am crazy to think the CARS money if re-instated ought to be allotted to domestic vehicles?
8:19 am
That’s not any crazier than the program itself.
8:21 am
Oh and good luck with your Echo today Shopgirl.
8:23 am
That was one of the original ideas, Ryanol, but what exactly IS a “domestic vehicle?” A Ford build in Mexico, or a Toyota built in Tennessee?
8:25 am
I am crazy to think the CARS money if re-instated ought to be allotted to domestic vehicles?
“Domestic” car? What’s that? Hondas and Toyotas are manufactured by American workers while several Ford and GM models are imported from Mexico, Canada and overseas.
8:29 am
Is there an echo in here?
8:29 am
@shopgirl: We’ll keep you in our thoughts today. Hopefully your test results will be negative or the arrhythmia can be easily treatable.
8:30 am
@justbob: I was writing while you were writing. Two ships passing in the night, er, blog.
8:32 am
My ship is running on biodiesel.
8:36 am
“I’m trying to fill the void,” Hoffman said.
Sigh. Really?
8:38 am
Time was, a guy bought a new car, it was a sign he was doing OK. He could swagger around a little bit. Drag the neighbors outside to look at it.
How can you do that when you know your very neighbors helped you pay for it?
Where’s your pride?
8:41 am
Thanks everyone! Hey did anyone finalize a date and time for MnSpeak? I know there was talk of having one soon..?
8:41 am
ah hell with it lets just oem all cars in China.
8:42 am
@rat: good point, but would the neighbors know? cuz that would be even worse..
8:42 am
I think Citizen Rat needs a little more time in the Reeducation Camp.
Take him away, men…
8:44 am
The first EVAR MNspeak get-together???
8:52 am
I dont know, I thought thats what they were talking about.. or wait was it MnRead?
8:55 am
they should’ve opened that place in north mpls, bob.
jk, welcome to the neighborhood.
8:56 am
I have already been to the MNSpeak get-together and left.
8:59 am
Cubbie: I liked the previous version of “Tinkles,” when it had a Latin flavor.
Now, I just can’t get past that stupid name…or the fact I don’t like piano bars, gay or straight.
9:04 am
heh, i think you meant ‘tickles’, bob.
9:10 am
Heh, indeed!
9:39 am
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWRyj5cHIQA
prolly all seen the slam chop remix but I was just shown it today by a coworker.
10:29 am
(psst, not really the first-evar get-together)
10:50 am
Is Foreigner the male version of Heart?
10:54 am
How can you do that when you know your very neighbors helped you pay for it?
New car show-off-iness wore off when 16 year olds starting driving new cars, Rat, paid for by their parents.
10:56 am
Is Foreigner the male version of Heart?
No.
Stop insulting Heart!
11:01 am
@nood
Which Wilson sister?
11:05 am
BTO or ELO?
11:06 am
@ryanol: Both.
11:08 am
Ladies: what’s the least hurtful way a guy has not asked for your number at the end of a great conversation (when you were sure he was going to)?
11:33 am
@Jerad: I usually don’t get too upset if they dont.. what do you usually say when you dont want the girls number at the end of a great conversation?
11:44 am
That’s what I’m trying to figure out. I had a great conversation w/ a woman who sent all the “get my number” signals. I tried to flash my wedding ring during the talk, but she still ended the conversation with a “Well…” and long pause.
I think it’s awkward to say “this was a fun talk and if I weren’t married then I would ask for your number.”
11:50 am
Where did this great conversation take place, Jerad?
11:50 am
I prefer to wink then skip off thinking smugly to myself “still got it”
My wife on the other hand thinks why do you have to flirt so much.
11:50 am
So how did you end it? Just not giving your number is a form of communication too.
11:53 am
Jerad – guys still ask for girl’s numbers?
11:54 am
I must be doing something wrong. All the women who’ve given me phone numbers live in the 555 exchange.
11:55 am
@Ryanol: What a playa.. haha i think thats funny, but I think the girl in that situation would not be laughing..
11:56 am
To elaborate: being friendly, kind, etc. and not giving your number should be sufficient. If she wants your number she’s going to be disappointed no matter what, so just try to be respectful.
Or do what Ryanol suggests, or just do a fist pump and shout STILL GOT IT! USA! USA! USA! and THEN skip away.
11:56 am
I think it’s becoming more common for the girl to ask for the guys number.
11:59 am
I like Jane’s suggestion. The next time a random dude flirts with me, I think I’ll give it a whirl.
12:01 pm
“you want some of this forbidden fruit, dontcha?!?!” (while hip thrusting and making the rodeo symbol with your hand….)
12:05 pm
Whathehell are you talking about, baker?
12:07 pm
@Rat – it was a beach.
@jane – I shook her hand and said “have a great day.” It was awkward enough that I’m still thinking of how it could have been handled more smoothly.
@esquared – Any claim I make to knowledge that about what guys still* do would be false. Five years ago, I think I would have asked for her number (as opposed to email, etc.)
12:11 pm
Don’t hate the playa hate the game…pimpin aint easy…its hard out here for a pimp…I want cash money diamond rings-shit every damn-thing. and so on and so forth…
12:12 pm
So you’re out chatting up single women on the beach?
12:17 pm
@Rynaol: Ha. Have you pefected your pimp swagger?
12:17 pm
Do ppl get ased out on facebook?
12:18 pm
lol, not sure rat.
Jerad, was her hand soft and warm?
12:18 pm
asked*
12:18 pm
Yeah darlin…don’t worry its totally harmless…well yes I had my shirt off…what yeah I guess she did too technically…You have nothing to worry about baby. Nothing.
12:18 pm
@Rat – I’ve been on MNSpeak for 5 years, and politically 1/2 the time I agree with you, but it seems like you really do assume the worst of any person or situation.
I was approached by an entertaining conversationalist who, as the conversation went on, turned out to be single and interested.
12:20 pm
When your cool as the other side of the pillow it ain’t no thang….some people are just born with it.
Q: How’s your pimp hand?
A: Strong.
12:21 pm
Jerad the real question is how long have you been married.
12:22 pm
aksed*
12:27 pm
@Ryanol: oh don’t tell me you have the pimp swag AND the pimp lingo!
1:08 pm
Awright, Jared, sorry.
I just tend to avoid places where women had approached me in the past. That means I can hardly go anywhere. It got to be too big a problem.
1:18 pm
When I get sick of women hitting on my I go to gay bars, where I can dance in peace without fear of being pawed by some drunk and horny female stranger.
1:24 pm
When I get sick of women hitting on me, I leave the strip club and go to an ordinary bar or club.
1:28 pm
@max: then you just have drunk and horny men pawing at you.
1:29 pm
\\
and walks away
….still got it
1:32 pm
@shopgirl…thats par for the course for Max.
Women want him…men want to be like him.
1:37 pm
Stay thirsty, my friends.
1:40 pm
His personality is so magnetic…he is unable to carry credit cards.
1:41 pm
Police question me all the time, just because they want to take to me.
1:42 pm
*talk
I meant to do that.
1:43 pm
his reputation is expanding faster than the universe.
1:43 pm
I think it’s becoming more common for the girl to ask for the guys number.
No, it’s not.
1:50 pm
@ryanol: you’re just full of one liners today aren’t you?
@mnblmkr: explain you’re reasoning. i think compared to say 10 yrs ago, its much more common and less of a big deal if a girl asks the guy for his #.
2:03 pm
when I get sick of women hitting on me, I drive away from East Lake Street.
2:52 pm
@Rat – Thank you.
@Max – A straight friend used to like to go to gay bars to see how many drinks people would buy him. Do you plan to drink free at Lush?
@g rote – As a college student I definitely misread a couple “Can I get a ride?” questions on E. Lake between Cedar and Chicago. I should have learned after the first one, but about a week before the second one I had resolved to more deliberately give people the benefit of the doubt. A good policy, except in that instance.
3:53 pm
soon i’ll b imbibing a brandy manhattan and lamenting the days of yore.
have a nice weekend yall.
