It is the point when defense contractors also suck off the public teat. Corporate welfare. Puts dollars in Dick Cheney's pockets.

These days, aren’t we all floating above cities in bubbles, walking awkwardly up the stairs on two legs, and donning space-man outfits? I know I am.
6:35 am
Nope
8:23 am
That dog is pretty amazing! I was watching Dog 101 last weekend and they said Dobermans are probably the second smartest dogs after German Shepards.
My dog will not walk up or down stairs. If he can’t jump to the top or bottom he won’t go. Italian greyhounds have this issue because they are a little top heavy.
This isn’t Remus but it usually how the situation goes down.

I start grad skool today. Just read one of my syllabi. I had been excited, now I’m scared. Turns out this is actually going to be work. Who woulda thunk?
8:38 am
Grad school for what, CINF?

Grad school for what, CINF?
8:38 am
Hey, my first SOTC double post!
8:41 am
Is this the first step in gaining freedom from that asshole job of yours CINF???
8:43 am
8:55 am
In the spirit of randomness of an Open Thread, I saw this video yesterday and am wondering if I’ve found my new calling.
8:55 am
CINF, congrats! Don’t worry about the fear, I always felt that way when I first started too. The nice thing about grad school is that they’re big fans of group work to facilitate knowledge sharing.
8:56 am
Also, what school are you going to?
8:58 am
University of Minnesota-Duluth! Go Bulldogs!
They’ve got a really cool program for Advocacy and Political Leadership. My first class tonight is Legal System and Public Policy and tomorrow I have Political Process and Public Policy.
And, Douglas, watch what you say about my job or it’ll kick your ass.
For the record, I do like my job. Especially the fact that it’s going to pay for pretty much all of school. And then I’ll drop it like third period French.
And although I’m freaked out by the workload, I’m psyched about studying again.
8:59 am
Also, the New Years open thread is what gave me the heads up about the program. I had been looking at the Humphrey Institute but someone posted the link to the UMD program and here I am!
9:01 am
I’ll never let you go, CINF. If I can’t have you, no one will!
9:03 am
Shit, my job’s stalking me on a day I’m working from home.
help. someone. help me.
9:04 am
And put some pants on, goddamnit…
9:06 am
You can thank me CINF.
9:08 am
Dougie, thankyouverymuch!
How’d you know about it? Know someone who went through it?
And should I thank you or be pissed off at you? I’ll decide that in March when I’m in the middle of the shit.
9:12 am
I have a few friend that went through the program. They all work for Unions as political organizers.
They all liked it and it was a great networking experience for them. I don’t think the work load was that heavy for them. And one friend actually found a boyfriend out of the experience.
9:24 am
@Nate: Awesome wing suit/ski porn vid.
I don’t know what I liked more – the vid or the commentary.
“Dooooooddd, that was sick.”
Couldn’t have said it any better.
9:26 am
Max, those were the best open thread links ever!!!
9:44 am
CINF- a bit of advice. Get through Grad School as fast as you can. I was super excited my first year to be studying again and learing. By my 3rd year I was full of hate and spite. I just wanted to be done and have my life back.
9:55 am
I am all about studying and learing! Wait, I’m all about studying and leering…totally different. Carry on.
10:06 am
KC – The program that CINF is doing I think is a 2 year full year program with classes just on Friday and Saturday.
10:57 am
So, I just got off a relay call with one of my credit card companies. Seems someone made an internet purchase from Bose Consumer Direct with the card number, for $2,156.70. Also, a $1 charge from “Union Internet.”
Both this morning.
They had put a fraud freeze on the account, and now, they’re going to close that account, mark the two charges as not mine, and send me a new card in the next week.
11:12 am
CINF’s job?!?!
11:13 am
I wouldn’t be surprised Jane…
11:13 am
Sorry, David: I shouldn’t make jokes. Sorry that happened–hope that is the end of it and you have no further trouble.
11:24 am
It is a bummer David.
11:33 am
That’s fine. CINF’s job better hope I don’t get my hands on it.
Looks like that should be it. They closed the account.
I’ll have to wait 90 days or so for the final “investigation”, but since the charges were flagged immediately, I’m assuming Bose isn’t out any inventory, and the CC company isn’t out any money, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the extent of the investigation.
The main hassle looks to be going a week or so without my main credit card.
11:34 am
One of my friends has had unauthorized charges on her card like 3 times. She never was on the hook for anything but it seems like this will happen more and more in the future.
The delivery address for her orders were all in Hong Kong or Singapore. No one is really going to pursue these people.
It is also good reason to NOT use your debit card for online purchases. Your fraud protection is way less that way than on an actual credit card.
12:06 pm
Hey CINF-
Do you know who’s teaching your classes? From what I can tell, my friend Ben is teaching a class in that program.
12:13 pm
Only two days a week for only two years for a Graduate Degree? That is the awesomest thing I ever heard. Have fun CINF, it sounds like you choose a great program.
12:32 pm
Wy Spano teaches the Political Process class and William Moore teaches the Legal System class.
And I haven’t seen my job in a few hours so it may have been committing fraud. I wouldn’t put it past it, especially after the way it stole alie’s virtue.
Two years for the program, which is one of the reasons I jumped at it. This semester shouldn’t be overly brutal (just a standard level of brutality) but this fall when I take three classes instead of two I plan on having my head explode a few times and becoming addicted to amphetamines.
One thing I like about it is that the administrator said the program continues to evolve and I’ve got the opportunity to tailor my concentration to both lobbying and the energy industry (right now concentrations focus on labor, non-profits and govt. employees…and I want to make money so none of those appeal to me).
And with that, I’m Audi 5000.
Have a great weekend, y’all!
12:39 pm
I’m adding graduate school consultant to my resume.
2:21 pm
Butt Hole Road. Hehe.
And yes people, it’s safe to visit from work.

Been thinking about vacationing near Crapstone this summer.
