Weekly I post a list of local restaurants with coupons that I am aware of. Check it out: http://www.dollarsinthepocket.com/2009/04/restaurant-round-up-42009/

moto-i?
how many overpriced trendy asian places does one city need? Criminy.

Mesa Pizza is WAY better than Campus Pizza. I once went there alone so I didn’t get pizza, and they gave me a ’salad’ that was literally – and I use the word correctly – only iceberg lettuce, and then ’spaghetti’ that was once again, literally, I think, only pasta with tomato paste. The pizza sucks too. Never again.

I’d say moto-i is different than the rest of the overpriced trendy asian places. Mostly because it is the only sake brewer with a restaurant (brewpub?) in the United States. And the prices aren’t bad, so I woulndn’t call it over priced, like some restaurants (I’m looking at you, Azia.)

Campus Pizza is good as far as grunt food goes.

KC, I haven’t been there, so of course you would know better. Interesting that they have a brewery.
The pictures just make it look like several other unremarkable places I have been that don’t stand out for me, for some reason…

and I’m sorry but the name is retarded…

Baker! Come on. The name is a Japanese name for a Japanese restaurant! Sheesh.

This place stands out for me b/c I love snack-y foods and moto-i has a ton of small plates. I happen to like sake a lot, and theirs is good.

I’d like to go to that place. Like Japanese food, but I can’t drink sake. Too strong. Gotta bottle as a gift and it’s sitting in the frigo. Sometimes use it for cooking.

I enjoy Moto-i quite a bit. Their small plates are very tasty and the sake is amazing. I don’t even particularly like sake and I could drink theirs all night long. YUM.

Let me just say that I like Campus Pizza very much, and now I am inspired to eat some of it today.

Gear up and grunt out, Max

Re: “Mesa Pizza is WAY better than Campus Pizza.”

I won’t argue with that. I’d argue that Mesa Pizza is probably the best pizza in Dinkytown. Campus Pizza is in Stadium Village.

Moto-i should be pronounced moto-ee, not moto-eye. “Asian vowels” and all that. I mean, we don’t say Hawai-eye, do we?

While that’s technically true, the only other pizza places in Stadium Village are Dominoes and Papa Johns. When I’m at the U and I want lunch, Stadium Village and Dinkytown are equally far away, so I’m only interested in the best in the UMN area, really.

Technically speaking, I’m not sure what Papa Johns sells is pizza.

Better to scarf down some Papa Murphy’s.

Agreed. I like “The Cowboy” and some of their thin crust white sauce pizzas.

What a pizza elitist, Bob. We order Papa John’s. It tastes fine. You can do it online. It’s fast, It’s great.

All right. 4pm. Time for campus pizza.

Betcha can’t order Campus Pizza online.

Carbone’s pizza in mpls is a favorite standby for me.

Papa John’s. Ugh. crust like rubber, tasteless cheese and toppings,

What you lose in flavor you make up for in convenience.

You have to look at the whole picture, Dave. You’re not seeing pizza in a macro sense.

Iggers’ review is strange. Lots of history of the restaurant, very little on the food, and even less on the tastiness of the food.
