I like the quiche at Moose and Sadie’s but, I agree, it’s not to die for or anything.

Aaron, thanks for the Freddie’s reminder. It’s not that far out of my way and yet I always forget about that place.

METRO Magazine just published a list of the Twin Cities’ Best Breakfasts: http://www.metromag.com/pages/index.cfm?PAGE_ID=176&ARTICLE_ID=2483

I have been to Roat Osha twice – once on Christmas Eve and once last night – and so far, I’m really digging it. I always thought the food was decent at Tum Rup Thai, but the service is awful. The service at Roat Osha has been amazing both times I went. I had the ginger stir-fry dish the first time, which comes out on a sizzling fajita plate. It was very tasty and something I haven’t seen at other Thai joints. It’s hardly authentic Thai, but I’m OK with that. I had the Tom Yum soup last night, which is the same as Tum Rup’s and is delicous. It’s becoming my fave Thai in Uptown, which isn’t difficult since most of the Uptown Thai sucks. True Thai and Mango Thai are still my favorites, but I’ll go back to Roat Osha since it’s pretty good and very close.

The METRO list missed a couple of good places known for their breakfasts: the Neighborhood Cafe and The Coffee Cup, both is Saint Paul.

I suggest the breakfast pasty at Jay’s Cafe on Raymond.

Here’s the comment I put on TC Eats about Roat Osha. Totally different experience than Tara’s.

We went last Saturday and I totally agree with your review. Good food but nothing to rave about. Minnesota Thai is a good way to put it. Our service was completely, absolutely, horribly awful, though, so I doubt we’re going back.

CINF, that sucks that you guys had crappy service. I hope that was a fluke and that Roat Osha doesn’t turn into Tum Rup Thai – the second coming.

Not sure what the deal was. They were busy and there were a few big tables but there were TONS of servers running around. Our drinks and apps took forever to get there and after our food got there we didn’t see our waiter till we asked for our check.

I wonder if CINF’S job has a 2nd job as a server at Roat Osha?

After the way you all treated my job last week, it probably pissed in my curry.

CINF’s Job is such an ass!

CINF, what are you, an abused worker? Are you now defending your horrible jerk of a job? Sheesh. What DouglasG said.

I’m not defending my job, but I knew the curry tasted strange.

Alie’s the stalker who keeps calling my job asking if it wants to hang out.

That’s the story your job tells you, anyway.

Whatevs, CINF’s job! I’m only trying to get a hold of your job to tell it to quit driving by my house and pissing on my bushes.

heh. pissing in your bushes. That’s my new favorite euphemism.

I want to give a little shout out to my neighborhood bakery/coffee shop – Jerabek’s, on St. Paul’s West Side. They serve Dunn Bros coffee, but the main event is all the baked goods that are made on site. I’m particularly happy because they have a few vegan options – and they aren’t your usual suspects. The cherry strudel is divine.

vegan pastries? made without butter?
sinful.
