So St. Paul mayor Chris Coleman has declared that he won’t be running for governor. As the Minnesota Independent points out, Coleman’s reasoning may accidentally have created an awkward situation for Rybak, who has strongly indicated that he may run.

I’m not convinced this is a big problem. Having to maintain a lower office while running for a higher one is pretty typical in politics.

It’s good, though, when someone recognizes the Peter Principle. Perhaps this is just such a case?
