So we’ve already mentioned that Favre has joined the Vikings. But Brauer discusses the media coverage of it, including comments from WCCO’s Web site after the network interrupted network news to announce Favre’s hirings: After this farce is over could you PLEASSSSE restart the news at the point you cut us off; that is the people who would rather use their brains that sit like zombies listening to Mr. Favre regurgitate for the 100th time why he deserves to be back playing football????!!!!!!
How much favre is too much Favre?

I’m already Favred out.
I’m also waiting for the news to break that the Vikings are negotiating with Carl Eller to come back and play this season.

I say less Farve, more Flavor Fav! I mean, my man Flav already LOOKS like a Viking!

@justpbob: Flav definitely has more razzle-dazzle than B-Fav.

with all apologies to JD and his TV cohorts, does anyone else see the delicious irony in someone who gets their daily news dose from the teevee saying:
“PLEASSSSE restart the news at the point you cut us off; that is the people who would rather use their brains than sit like zombies…”

I’m bummed that Plaxico Burress got a 2 year sentence. I was hoping for 6 months and a viking signing in time for the inevitable Super Bowl run.

It is awesome, isn’t it? I’m glad people are so passionate about the CBS Evening News. I blame Favre. He could have waited to come out at 6pm. He’s the one who hates hard news, not us.

He could have waited to come out at 6pm.
Favre’s “coming out?!” God will strike him down with a tornado!

I want to see all those people who griped go to Roseville tonight, where they can see all nine Republican candidates for governor in one place.

Way to deflect blame, De. Perfect!
Libin made the right call. The Vikings are the biggest deal in town and signing Favre is the biggest thing they’ve done in a long, long time. It’s news, big news.
But a side question – I though the digital TV transition would make it easier to put out alternate channels like KARE’s channel 11.2. Would it have been technically to difficult to throw the news or the press conference up on a channel 4.2 or something? I don’t know how all that works. Or, they could have run a scroll directing viewers to their Web site.

Excellent point, Kevin, and that’s something I’ll ask about tomorrow. KARE and KSTP should have been able to very easily move their network newscasts to their digital subchannels. As far as I know, we aren’t yet using 4.2 but that’s would be the perfect use for it.

Now that Favre is bleeding purple, we should expect to see more Wisconsin-like behavior within our borders. It’s now evident that the presence of Favre in Green Bay all those many years is the reason why ‘Sconnies periodically go insane and do strange things to animals.
