Stuff About Mpls publishes an awesome ode to WCCO weatherman Bud Kraehling: All I heard last night, and for most of the past week, was Thunderstorms are A-Comin! Nothing has happened. I’m not some big thunderstorm advocate, but you guys today (I’m talking to you Sven, and that skinny guy at Fox 9) seem to be wrong all the time now. If this continues, I swear to God I will use it in my power with this tumblr to pull Bud Kraehling out of retirement.

Their first mistake was listening to the local weather guy instead of just looking at the National Weather Service forecast, which is updated more often and the precent chances of rain include probability of occurance in the calculation. I find it much more accurate and reliable.

I loved Bud and all the old-school TV weathermen. Barry Zevan would also review movies, giving good ones arching multiples of his bushy eyebrows.

Jason’s station has had the good weather mojo workin lately. On Sunday night, Mike Fairborne was predicting the cooler temps for yesterday while Sven was still predicting 90s. And on Wednesday night, Chris Schaefer suggested that the storms heading this way for Thursday might split apart and go north and south of the metro, which they did!

Fairborne is intolerable and between him, Mike Lynch on the radio, and firing Paul Douglas CCO may as well put up a billboard saying we think global warming is a bunch of hooey – get off my lawn!

I do miss Bud and Paul Douglas. Mike Fairborne is one of the three best meteorologists on local stations right now; the othes are Dave Dahl on KSTP and Jonathan Yuhas on KARE. Sven on KARE is intolerable.
