“A Minnesota man Tuesday sued the Order of St. Benedict at St. John’s Abbey in Collegeville over alleged sexual abuse.” Jeremiah McCarthy claims he was sexually abused during a counseling session in 1971, as a sophomore at St. John’s Prep. He also claims the Benedictine Brothers knew that 11 clerics were molesting children at the school from the ’60s to the mid-’80s but did nothing to stop it — a fact confirmed by two former Benedictine monks who have come forward as witnesses.

This is nothing that a little rebranding can’t solve.
Sadly, we’re far from seeing the end of this. Banishing pedophiles to small communities seems to have done an impressive job of spreading the problem around. Unlike pollution, the solution is not dilution.

If they lose this lawsuit, they may be forced to give up their worldly goods, wear a simple garment abd take vows of poverty.
NOTE TO THE BROTHERS: I said vow of poverty, not pervity!

I assume innocence to begin with in cases like this. That’s what you’re told when to go into jury duty, like I did a year ago and almost got assigned an abuse case.

After the institutional cover ups that have been exposed in the catholic church over the years, I assume guilt.
