My father-in-law (who has been attending UofM sporting events for nearly 50 years and has had literally 100’s of close encounters with Goldy)calls him Moldy Gopher. Which, I assume, has something to do with the condition of that costume.

I have been at multiple events with Goldy…
However, my fondest memory was when Goldy slid down Mariucci Arena’s stairs on a sled and totally wiped out a guy who had just purchased a big tub of popcorn. Awesome!

I had to laugh – I saw goldy (I think it was Basketball goldy – but I’m not sure) trucking across campus to Williamson Arena on a scooter last week.

I just heard a certain ex-gopher football coach comment that Goldy gets more run in the Strib than any single player on the gopher football team. And I have to agree, as I couldn’t even tell you who their starting QB is this year.
