Bachmann has taken her shots at Congress before, as we remember, complaining about anti-Americanism, although she later recanted, or, more properly, claimed she had never said anything like that and it was an urban myth. Now she lets loose on “socialized” medicine: “I know one thing, the people in my district are not interested in paying for the health care for illegal aliens that are coming across our border to be yet one more magnet to bring people in that should come here legally.”
The magnet for illegal aliens she refers to? The State Childrens Health Insurance Program.
She has plenty more to say as well.

“I know one thing, the people in my district are not interested in paying for the health care for illegal aliens that are coming across our border to be yet one more magnet to bring people in that should come here legally.”
If I were a HS English teacher, I’d give extra credit for students that attempted to diagram this setnence.

No fewer than 40 of Ms. Bachmann’s GOP peers in the House voted for this legislation.
Republicans who opposed earlier versions of the bill (which passed Congress twice, and was vetoed twice by W) paid a heavy price.
I blogged on the higher federal excise tax on tobacco that will pay for this back in Feb.

She’s your Rep, Bob

Wow! That lady has issues.
And seriously, she is against health care for children? Maybe a few undocumented kids will get help, but it isn’t like it was their choice to come to this country. And do we really want ill children running around our schools infecting all the “legal” kids?

You know what else is appealing to illegal aliens? Jobs. We should get rid of those. They also like food, I hear. No more of that!

Yes, I know, g_rote.
If I understand the issue, the new SCHIP law allows applicants to apply using their social security number as identification. Because ss # are not a fool-proof way of determining U.S. citizenship, hence the statement about illegal aliens.
At least, I think that’s the issue. Anyone know more on this?

The rule regarding providing birth certificates was very new for SCHIP, like 3 years old tops. So the reversal isn’t a big deal.
And all social security numbers are run against a database. Numbers and name must match or a flag is put on the case.
I’m not sure about SCHIP, but some undocumented kids are allowed to get Medical Assistance (medicaid). Also, pregnant moms can get it too.
I suppose I could look this stuff up, it is my job…

Here’s some more, from the great-titled website, “OhMyGov!”

Wait… who’s whacking off what now?
3:24 pm
@justpbob: Social security #s are issued to non-citizens, too; even those without permanent residency (aka Green cards). It’s used as an IRS tracking number for working non-citizens, so a SS # is absolutely not a reliable indicator of citizenship.
There are only two documents that can prove citizenship: a birth certificate (matched with a drivers’ license, I suppose) or a US passport.

…. and Bachmann is channeling Joe McCarthy again. Calling for ethics investigations.

I love Michele Bachmann. Best congresswoman ever!
Not.
She’s evil and awful and I despise everything about her.
