Nine More Gone at Pioneer Press

And if people aren’t being pushed out… they’re heading for the doors. At least at KSTP. Ross Kirgiss says, see ya!

Yikes, this is not good. When i see the Pi Press reprinting stuff from Finance and Commerce and not picking up on other local stories, I have to wonder. . .

Agreed, not from here. For me, the PiPress jumped the shark when they invited “hobby columnist” Craig Westover to write unsigned editorials for the paper (after sacking the some top shelf professional journalists who had job). BTW, Westover also pens op/eds for Finance & Commerce’s sister publication, the Saint Paul Legal Ledger.

Isn’t it amazing that someone like Westover can rise to that level of authority on the editorial page? Twenty-five, thirty years ago he would have been mimeographing his thoughts in a basement somewhere.
And then you look at the people the Pi Press has laid off, fired or otherwise driven out. It’s scary.

Twenty-five, thirty years ago he would have been mimeographing his thoughts in a basement somewhere.

Twenty-five or thirty years ago, his thoughts were mainstream and his detractors were considered kooks. It’s remarkable what damage that only one generation of left-wing propaganda can do, isn’t it?

Progress is a frightening thing.

The future of journalism is those who have no training or young college grads too green to realize that there is no future to be had for those who have the groundwork to be great journalists.
