Speaking of dogs…

Does anyone have an update on this story about the town of Belle Plaine and their attempt to force a humane society volunteer to get rid of some of his pets?

So much for the whole notion that the economy in this state is going well.

Yet, another reason not to trust the GOP and Palwenty. Liars make themselves lazy and dumb.

“If convicted, he could spend another four years in prison.”

wow. it’s this guy’s 3rd dui, he’s already killed one person, and he’ll only get 4 years? outrageous.

You’ll find me in the gay bus and the boozer cab.
Also, I only fly Jew kites.

In light of the whole cab/alcohol thing I’m surprised the bus/gay ad thing didn’t get more comment. I also found it interesting that the union disagreed with the MTC’s decision, basically saying that the driver should not receive special accommodation because of his/her religious beliefs.

Jeremy Iggers compared the cab issue with the pharmacist/morning-after issue last weekend.

I was right with him until his last two paragraphs, where he, IMO, contradicted himself. If you’re in a profession that requires you to do things you consider morally (or otherwise) objectionable, find another profession.

What the hell is it with certain people getting so self righteous and judgemental lately? Somali cabbies refusing to take alcohol toting patrons or blind persons with guide dogs?…..Pharmacists who are refusing to fill certain prescriptions because of some alleged religious conflicts of interest?…..Bus drivers who refuse to operate certain buses because there are gay themed advertisements on some of the buses?

All of these professions involve dealing with the public and rendering a service, depending on the specific job. To those people out there and many others who might have the same hang ups, I strongly suggest that all of you find work in a field that will keep you and your intolerant, knee jerk religious beliefs away from the rest of us who can get through our daily lives dealing with others who are different from us and who can at least show respect for the differences that exist among us, even if you don’t personally accept or believe them!!

mark rosen told a story on kfan the other day – his mom was grocery shopping at supertarget. the mulsim cashier REFUSED to scan one of her food items (pork something) because the handling of it interfered with her religion. the cashier had to page the manager to come over and scan it for her.

I find it funny that Rosen’s mom was buying pork.

You know, I don’t mind that, or the cabbies, or the Christian who didn’t want to drive the buses with the Lavender ad. As long as there is someone who can take over, no problem. It’s when a pharmacist refuses birth control, and they are the only one on duty, and there is nobody else that can fill the prescription, that they have totally failed at their job.

It seems more of a management problem than anything else. If someone won’t do something because their religion forbids it, make sure someone else is on hand to do it.

I’m totally in disagreement with you on making sure that other persons are available to handle a situation, should one like you mentioned, come up. You are asking the managers of a Byerly’s, Walgreen’s, etc… to add extra staff that would probably not normally be needed, to stand by in case an employee refuses to perform a duty related to their job??? That should NOT be the responsibility of employers at all, in my opinion! When a person accepts a job, they accept the entire scope of the job, not just picking out here and there what they feel like doing.

I refuse to go drinking with left wing puppeteers.

Someone else better be available.

I’ll go drinking with anyone. I have an open mind and an willing liver.

“Christian who didn’t want to drive the buses with the Lavender ad”

what if that christian bus driver refused to give a ride to gay passengers? still ok with that?

Depends. Is the gay passenger hottt?

seriously.
