Oh c'mon Hennepin County Commissioners! Give Carl Pohlad another Billion Dollars already. He obviously needs it.

Or you could SKIN the poor and stretch their skin to make a "human roof" for the new stadium.

While you're at at why don't you baseball subsidy backers take all the kids grades k-6 out of school and grind them up into sausages to serve during the games?

Just a few Modest proposals...

The dome was hailed as an inovation when it was built, and many fans were generally excited to go there for the first 10-15 years.

Sure, some things were lost with the dome, like enjoying a crisp fall day for football, or a beautiful summer day for baseball, but we did miss the rain delays and the bitter cold.

Outdoor stadiums do rock, but a roof would be ideal for baseball, like Miller Park.

Also, keep in mind that extra rows of luxury suites were added at Lambeau, and they also have enclosed regulat seats now too.

The dome allowed the teams to charge more by elevating the experience, esp. for the vikes. what was solidly blue collar & whiskey soaked became country club. mo money, mo money!

i predict the twins will have a roof withinin 10 years (the design will allow for it), and the vikes will build, downtown, with a roof. (they will get the dome land for free and a gob of TIF from Henn. & MPLS).

sorry Blaine, but the infrastructure is already there.

If I had an opportunity to sit in a cold stadium to watch the Twins in the playoffs, I would do it.

It's not that much different than ice fishing without a house or hunting deer from a tree stand, or any other cold weather activity that's popular in Minnesota. Just dress warm like we do for high school football games and winter carnivals.
Last Saturday when the Tigers beat the Yankees was the 1st time I was homesick for Detroilet since I left 9 years ago, and you bet I would brave 30 degree weather for a chance to see the Tiges in the playoffs. I'd be whiskey warm, of course, but I'd be there.

As an aside, FOX Sports really f'ed up the ALCS playoff scheduling. Why in the world would they schedule the AL & NL games @ the same time in first place? Even worse, how can they get away with changing the start time just 24 hours before the game. If I had invested $200 for a seat for a Friday night playoff game, and then was told that the game time was changing "because of weather" (which is TV parlance for "We botched the schedule and now you're screwed because we need to maximize viewership & ad revenue") I would be irate.
I wondered how somebody was going to work an anti-Bush remark into a thread on MN weather! I must say, it really added a lot to the conversation. A lot of crap, but a lot none the less.

You're right. Minnesotans complain about the weather far too much for this to be successful. They'll just have to make sure the team never makes it out of the ALDS.

And the Cubs are a terrible example of how to fill an outdoor stadium all year long, even in the cold, year after year, regardless of the quality of the baseball being performed on the field. They're a perfect example of why baseball should be played in an arena because it might be cold on October 13.
