Oh really? The violation was discovered by the klobuchar campaign last saturday. It took them 5 days (saturday to wednesday) for them to come clean. What were they doing in the meantime? Trying to decide whether or not to do the right thing?

The people voting for klobuchar will be the same people who voted for dayton. And if she wins, the resulting performance in the senate will be the same. Incompetence and cowardice.

The situation reminded me of a couple of “West Wing” episodes, the lastest being were Vinick’s campaign consultant Bruno discovers Santos’ briefcase in a holding room. Vinick and Bruno must decide if they use its contents (possible scandal) against Santos or take the high road and give it back.

There was another edisode early in the series when deputy chief of staff Josh was given a advance copy of a anti-Bartlet ad. Against the advice of others, he meets with a Republican friend and gives him the tape. The “friend” then tells the story to the news media, resulting in the tape in question getting aired over and over as part of the news story — without costing the a dime to the GOP.

The only difference is, I don’t think she’s on psychotropic meds. Yet.

Then there’s the story of the Bush aide who was really a Kerry mole who was caught on a security camera mailing a tape of a Bush debate practice session to a Kerry aide.

Then there’s the story of Jimmy Carter being in possession of a copy of a Reagan briefing book prior to their debates.

God, you suck at this, Tate. How are we supposed to find anything you say credible when you get important details exactly backwards?

The problem with your “plant” theory compubox, is that to have the full effect of being considered righteous and moral, they would have had to come clean to everyone on saturday when they were first approached with the tape. The fact that they didn’t suggests they had a debate about the relative merits of ethics versus politcal advantage. Which part is the “lying” part? The word “serious” is the closest thing I can find to a lie in that sentence, but that’s only my opinion – I’d love to hear yours.

Upon further reflection, maybe you and I are grammaticallly placing “by a senior member of Amy Klobuchar’s campaign” in different context (me: “we were informed by a senior member…”, you – maybe: “serious security breach by a senior member…”) …which may have been intentional, but for me to think that…well, it comes perilously close to giving them credit for being able to come up with doublespeak that clever and I’m still not ready to go there yet.
