I’m still voting for Keith Ellison.

Hmm, interesting video. Paul Ostrow is still getting my vote!

That’s not an ad, that’s a video. Ads are 30 or 60 seconds long. This thing is like five minutes.

That’s all well and good, but does it have anything to do with why anyone should vote for her?

I’m voting for Keith Ellison.

Wish she was my neighbor.

What’s with the bold or whatever?

somone forgot to close the bold.

Does this work?

(Killing bold.)

((Makes for a cool sig, donit? “Killing bold.”))

Hmm. Nope. You can’t kill bold by leaving the second hotmeal half.

(”Failing to kill bold” doesn’t have the same sig ring to it.)

I killed the bold. People who don’t know how to close html tags shouldn’t be allowed to vote, in my opinion.

I didn’t know anything about her before, but now I hate her.

She’s a moron and so is anyone in her staff who thought that video was a good idea.

Well, that’s probably just about as good as any other reason, Tom.

Voting is for old people.

This will be the first year I’ve voted. I didn’t do it last year because there were only school board elections as far as I could tell. Despite my teenaged rage in 2004 against the Man holding me down because I was 16/17, I didn’t get to vote then either.

My 7th grade shop teacher turned on the TV one day November 2000 during class and told us we were watching history happening. In 2001, airplanes crashed into two buildings I had never heard of before. In 2002, Paul Wellstone died. I’ve only lately gotten out of high school and started to come to understand what affect these events (as well as others) have had on politics. It’s not as if I was completely immune before, especially compared to many of my apathetic peers. But things feel different and colder when you come to realize that you aren’t able to rely on adults to make choices in the world while you fight them off and don’t think too much about it.

Growing up is some weird stuff, yo!

Her dad Norrie was a great fixture at Nye’s. He used to close with “I Wish You Love” every night. I’ve listened to many versions of that song, but I’ll take Norrie’s everytime. He sang it like he meant it, and it made for perfect exit music.

Kinda off topic, but thought you all should know.

Nye’s used to be a special place.

i’m voting for Ellison too.

but when i play bridge on sunday with my ladyfriends, we’ll all be talking about Ember. and having a good cry.

Oh, yeah. Voting for Ellison.

Most of the support I’ve heard about Ellson comes from a group who says he’s “passionate.” They offer little else. Does he have the ability to make policy, form coalitions, build consensus. You can’t blow into Washington thinking you can do it all yourself by sheer force of will. You’ll get absolutely nowhere.

You won’t get the voice, you won’t get the committees and you’ll be a backbencher. You’ll end up like Dennis Kucinich.

I’m voting for Paul Osterow, too. The other two leaders will get plenty of votes in the primary.

Here’s what I’ve learned from recent campaign ads:
There’s a guy who likes dogs.
A lady who’s got friends and family with lots of problems.
Someone’s kids aren’t getting a raise in allowance

I like dogs, have problems, and don’t get an allowance. So I now know who to vote for.

There’s a guy who likes dogs.

The dogs are supposed to make you forget that he’s a jerk.

Some of the most effective legislators of recent history were massive jerks. Tom Delay, Newt Gingrich the list is nearly endless.

Those are some of the worst political ads I’ve ever seen. That Kennedy one is laughable. If these people were worth it, I’d feel embarassed for them.

Yay for political ad week! I saw 7 in one half hour watching KARE 11 news yesterday afternoon!

Of the new crop, I think Hatch’s and Kennedy’s are the best. “Minnesota tough making Minnesota nice” is a great tag, and the contrast between Hatch hunting with his dogs and Pawlenty mincing around in his ads is pretty effective.

Kennedy’s one with the kids and the “we need a line item veto in Washington” does something to suggest he does desire change and somehow isn’t responsible for what’s happened in the last 4 years of his Republican party’s dominance.

Worst? Ember and Pawlenty. You can tell even Ember is uncomfortable scoring political points off her brother-in-law’s suicide. The move seems sort of desperate.

Pawlenty’s school funding ad ultimately rings hollow, and I think folks are getting increasingly bugged about how he cuts new ads and cancels scheduled debate appearances.

For some reason, it bothers me immensely that Dayton’s daughter can’t act.

But things feel different and colder when you come to realize that you aren’t able to rely on adults to make choices in the world while you fight them off and don’t think too much about it.

This really resonated with me, Sandburg. I respected adults a LOT more before I became one.

Um… Kennedy’s daughter?

I am leaning toward Ellison, except (1) I’m nervous that he’ll be used by the GOP to pummel the rest of the DFL candidates, and it will be a big distraction all the way to the general election; and (2) many of his vocal supporters seem completely unwilling to acknowledge the guy’s flaws and the possibility that this may blow up in our faces. I think I will vote for him next Tuesday — who else is there?! — but it makes me nervous with so many key races this fall.

Ember definitely NOT a milf.

Maybe she just can’t act as if she likes her father.

Vote Mark Kennedy! he prays alot.

I don’t like the fact that Mark Kennedy claims to be a CPA but hasn’t actually been certified for years. I think that speaks to his character.

I’m a conservative and I’m rooting for Ellison. The really laughable ad is Hatch’s where he pretends he’s not just an ambulance chaser but a real human being.

i just threw up a little in my mouth.

keith ellison rules.

Kennedy looks pathetic in his TV ads. First, he claims he has a CPA degree, which I don’t know for sure that he actually has one. Then, he rambles on and on about lawyers in the Senate, trying to prove that Amy herself is simply another lawyer running for office. I’m gussing that Bill Frist and John McCain fits the 2/3 majorty for which Kennedy is claiming about “liberal” laywers. Presumably, I don’t like his stance on the line-item veto. Did someone tell him that the line item veto was bascially struck down by the U.S. Surpreme Court back in the 90s when Clinton tried to inact the law in the first place? DUH Mark! You don’t know your political history well.

Stick a fork in Mr. Bozo! He’s done! Fried Toast.

I also love Kennedy’s constant harping on the fact that Klobuchar’s a lawyer, and how “we sure don’t need any more of those in Washington!”

Is the presumption that all the outstate rubes hate and distrust lawyers still a banakable one? I thought we got over that idea back in the ’80s or something.

Raindog66 Sep 7 2006

If you look very close at Kennedy he has a tiny Swastika tattoo between his eyes.

Symbolic?

Oh, raindog, not everybody can be a nazi. Some people are just your run-of-the-mill corrupt demagogues.

It is a bit premature to compare Kennedy to Fascist Dictators who Committed Mass Genocide. Sure, he’s a would-be fascist dictator, and I certainly wouldn’t invite him to Shabbat dinner, but let’s please agree that doesn’t make him a Nazi.

Reichgott-Junge seems to be trying for personality-based politics, a la those likable lads GWB and Tim Pawlenty. I still don’t have a clue what she stands for, except for being real nice.

First, we kill all the lawyers …

The correct line is, “If tyranny is to rule the land, THEN kill all the lawyers.” – Shakespeare

Keith Ellison is the man.

You can evoke Godwins Law:

“As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one. [1]“

and:

“There is a tradition in many newsgroups and other Internet discussion forums that once such a comparison is made, the thread is finished and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically “lost” whatever debate was in progress. This principle is itself frequently (though perhaps incorrectly) referred to as Godwin’s Law.”

I like my version better.

Uh, no, JMS, I don’t think that’s the line.

2 Henry 2, act 4, scene 2:

DICK
The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.

I couldn’t find your quote anywhere on the internets.

Ellison is but a thinly veiled terrorist who would likely name Spike Moss to an influential post.

But the PC crowd just adores him!

There’s another: why may not that be the skull of a lawyer? Where be his quiddits now, his quillets, his cases, his tenures, and his tricks? why does he suffer this rude knave now to knock him about the sconce with a dirty shovel, and will not tell him of his action of battery? Hum!

Oh my god, bud’s right — look at this photo I just found:

ellisonbinladen

Max: a fellow of infinite jest.

“Ellison is but a thinly veiled terrorist…”

Should someone be allowed to get away with language like this?

Can’t just disagree anymore. You have to call the person you disagree with a Nazi or a terrorist.

It’s tne logic of the New Right:

“If some terrorists are Muslims then all muslims are terrorists”

Oh, and they’ve just realized Stevie Wonder is God.

“It’s tne logic of the New Right”

Mark Kennedy got called a Nazi, so I think the esteemed members on the left are just as guilty.

Just so y’all know, I am not bud jr as some here have alleged.

Listen, I like raindog, but she can hardly be considered an “esteemed members on the left.” Or haven’t you noticed people’s tendency to make fun of raindog’s tendency to call everyone a nazi?

No, you’re that Indian guy.

Maybe you haven’t really made it in the world until someone compares you to Hitler.

First:

Special Note to Rat:

Godwin is a Nazi Sympathizer and personally I don’t give a fuck what he thinks. So please stop reposting that crap every time I reveal my subtle evidence of Nazism.

I’m guessing raindog’s cat has been called a nazi so often for kicking litter on the floor he doesn’t even notice anymore.

Uh, I’m out on a limb here, but the Nazi’s had a cause and a plan.

Wasn’t a real GOOD plan, but they sure were organized and dedicated to it.

Unlike the liberals we are infested with.

They just preach the hatin’.

You’re not just out on a limb, my friend, you have climbed to the top of the world’s tallest crazy tree.

And yet you argue not with my position.

My sister has an antique chest, pre-WWII with a Swastika on it. I think it’s some kind of Nordic symbol. It sits in the middle of her living room.

She’s not a Nazi that I know of. On the other hand, she does keep a very neat house.

I presume your position is supine, with a empty bottle of Goldschlager rolling around your head.

come on, even the best can fall for Hitler:

Okay, this is the image I TRIED to add with the little tool, but I ain’t smart enough

http://www.bertisevil.tv/pages/bert003.htm

She’s not a Nazi that I know of. On the other hand, she does keep a very neat house.

Was she in favor of the smoking ban?

The Nazis had a plan, and the liberals just preach the hatin’.

I think we have a new winner in the Stupidest Thing Ever Said on MNspeak Contest.

Was she in favor of the smoking ban?

My Dad died of a smoking related illness. The whole family is hell on cigarettes, except me. And I never started smoking

We’re all Roosevelt Democrats. But I’m probably the most moderate.

Formula For Craziness:
One part Bud Jr. + One Part Raindog = This

I’m a Rosenfeld Democrat.

tatemani has a point, though.

I’m a Democrat and I’m not going anywhere, but in wince sometimes when I hear guys like Howard Dean. Michael Moore, too. I don’t know how he infiltrated the party. But he’s there. The moveon.org, Kos brigades.

I’ve been a Democrat all my life, and I don’t recognize people like that.

I think hatred for Bush is leaps ahead of hatred for Clinton.

I guess it was bud, jr.

Anybody else notice Bud jr came back the same day Buckwheat left?

I prefer the term Zionazi, which fits just about every major candidate except for Ellison.

God, that’s inane. It’s like calling feminists “femirapists.”

Who is this Ellison bastard? Doesn’t he have any shame?

Shoved in our mail box today: Big ol’ picture picture of him, posed with Paul Wellstone.

This is disgusting. He’s a cheap-ass politician. He’s gotta go down.

I’m chainging my vote. Erlandson gets it. Ellison’s gotta go.

You didn’t get the picture of Ellison with Farrakhan? Erlandson was trying to dig one up for us.

Say what you will about Farrakhan, he was a hell of a calypso artist.

You don’t do this. You don’t try to claim a posthumous endorsement from Paul Wellstone.

This is beyond the pale. This is small time.

Raindog66 Sep 7 2006

Why am I NOT surprised the Rat’s sister has a swastika IN HER LIVING ROOM?

But let’s be honest here.

No offense but a “moderate” is just a Republican that’s too much of a pussy to come out and say it.

The sad thing is I recognize them only too well. They are CRIPPLING the left with their duplicity. Please leave. Now!

Spineless. Just like the “liberals” who supported the War of Terror.

Like Marv Davidoff once said when asked about his being a “liberal”.

“A Liberal?!?”he said. “Fuck that! I’m a RADICAL!”

I love you, Marv.

“They are CRIPPLING the left with their duplicity. Please leave. Now!”

I was voting Democrat and working campaigns when you were playing in your vomit.

So you don’t be saying that to me.

Raindog66 Sep 7 2006
9:32 pm

Whatever Joe “Rat” Lieberman.

It’s your party…

I can’t imagine anyone accusing Marv Davidoff of being a liberal. He’s been on the commie payroll since the mid 60s. I’m serious. He’ll even tell you how the checks stopped coming for a while in 1989 when the soviets had their little breakup. heh. Liberal. Ha. What tools most democrats are. At least raindog’s apparently read the script.

Hatch’s commercial is terrible. Minnesota tough, blah blah blah Minnesota nice – what the hell does that mean? What is Minnesota tough? Has anyone ever heard that in their life? Ford tough. Minnesota nice.

Get a clue, Mr. Attorney General. People who try to pretend to be someone they aren’t just come across looking like asses. Take Mark Kennedy for example.

“What tools most democrats are.”

OK. I’m in the trenches. Give me a shovel, give me the dimensions and show me where to dig. When the shooting starts, you’ll have a foxhole.

What can anyone count on you for?

Hatch’s commercial is terrible. Minnesota tough, blah blah blah

Hatch’s people told him he needs a makeover. And like most democrat men, his testosterone is down at least a quart so this was an attempt to prop his dick up a bit.

What can anyone count on you for?

Been there done that.

Raindog66 Sep 7 2006
11:02 pm

Tatmani who the fuck do you think you are?

Could you please submit a screen shot of your balls so we can verify what a manly man you are?

Whip it out!

You are obsessed with testosterone as if it were your precious bodily fluids. Your essence.

I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

Sadly Hatch is TWICE the Man and will be 10 TIMES the Governor “Fee and Spend” Polenta was.

And that’s not saying much.

You are one sick Fascist bastard, I’ll give you that.

But your sperm obsession turns me off.

Then I’ll assume the answer is “nothing.”

Politics moves in a circle. At some point the left and right meet.

tatamani, meet Raindog.

heh. Like sunlight on a vampire.

Oh, the venomous hatred of the left when the sunshine lands on them…

I’d love to learn how many of these were posted by the same person.

So I get a response from the Ellison campaign after I sent a pretty pointed and angry e-mail after he tries to co-opt Paul Wellstone’s posthumous endorsement. It arrives almost immediately, which tells me it’s probably an auntomated response and they may have been inundated with e-mails like mine.

“The photo was not photo shopped (sic)” he says, though I didn’t accuse them of it, or even mention such a thing. Wellstone had his picture taken with every Tom, Dick and Harry in Minnesota, but only one had the monumental gall to use one in campaign material the way Ellison did.

“I’m not quite sure what it is you found so offensive. But I am very sorry that you did.”

I told him exactly what I found offensive. Either the man A) doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing, or worse B) he knows exactly what the hell he’s doing and doesn’t care.

To tell the truth, I’m not sure what you find so offensive about it either.

If he would have said something to the effect of wanting to bring the passion and the commitment and caring that Wellstone brought to Minnesota politics I’d say, fine.

But you don’t distribute a cheesecake picture of yourself next to him, as if he’s received some kind of endorsement.

Could be worse. Bush poses with minor politicians all the time, who then distribute those images.

That’s proper enough.

Is the photo posed or do they just happen to be in the shot together. If it’s posed, I guarantee you Wellstone knew the image was going tobe used politically, just as Bush does when he poses with politicians.

Looks like a snapshot at a gathering. Both men are casually dressed.

“If it’s posed, I guarantee you Wellstone knew the image was going tobe used politically.”

I could make no such guarantees.

why was that the best ad ever?

i saw the real ad on TV. so so, imho.

the clip on youtube was more of a short film.

why are we talking about it. still not sure.

guess i’m way too cynical but the film on YT didn’t strike a chord with me.

I believe chuck was being saracastic Russ.

guess I’m way too stupid to pick up on sarcasm.

Nice, boring INFOMERCIAL.

I’m more concerned about the 60 second ad in which she exploits her bro-in-law’s committing suicide for votes. Some guy really rips her on the forum at MinneapolisFinder.com.

Check it out. He’s even got a pretty funny limerick.
