Boy, it’s the week of Chuck, ain’t it?

I hope he comes to the pub quiz. We need at least one celebrity there.

Please contact the William Morris Agency to arrange personal appearances by Mr. Olsen or Mr. DeRusha.

Now if only we could get the Strib to publish the race of the Minneapolis shooting victim as well.

We’d love to agree to appear at the pub quiz… but our contracts with William Morris require the standard appearance fee of 10k. Much like Paris Hilton gets paid to appear for 20 minutes at a club, Chuck and I get paid to appear at bars.

Oh if only….

Chuck was fine on Almanac, but it was really an “apples and oranges” pairing him with a political blogger. If they wanted to talk about blogs and politics, couldn’t they find a local lefty political blogger? I also fault Wurzer and Escola for not pressing Mike a bit on his “ah, shucks folks I’m just a little hobby blogger…” routine. The PiPress story did a better job of pointing out that Mike has been a professional politcal operative (not that there’s anything wrong with that) for years. Still, the viewers would had been better informed with that piece of info about the author of MDE.

Hey! That’s Chuck on the cover of the Pulse…article by Max Sparber

I agree it was an odd pairing, but Almanac explicitly wanted to shy away from partisan politics and just talk about political blogging in safer, more general terms. That’s been their history of having bloggers on the show, I think because they have an older audience and maybe to avoid the outright nastiness you see online when ideologues clash.

That said, I hope they do take the kids gloves off and have political bloggers on to – you know – talk politics!

(Brodkorb was incredibly nice, and nervous about being on the teevee. I might do “A Day in the Life of MDE” video sometime.)

I’m trying to watch Chuck’s segment, but it’s an RM document. AN RM DOCUMENT. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE YEAR 2006, ALMANAC! Quicktime or Flash that shits!

Yeah, that old RealVideo server did a good job a few years ago, but I can’t even seem to play it on my new Mac.

For your convenience, watch the video here in Flash, or the lovely ipod-friendly Quicktime link.

Done and done.

Regarding the meth registry – Hmm, no addresses, no pictures, and then there’s the usual debate about whether or not people who’ve served their time should have their record so easily available.

Sounds like this was a half thought through plan to score voter points, hopely people would just hear about it and think it sounds like a good idea. The content and execution are weak. The money to develop and maintain it would be better spent on helping the people who get hooked.

Too little, too late Guv! You should thought about that meth database idea during your first half of your term in office, at a time you were not running for re-election just yet. Better now, you should look for early retirement from public office since the general voters have partly seen the light at the end of the tunnel against this Neo-con trash.
