A software engineer, Paul Rademacher, has created a site for searching and reading apartment listings: HousingMaps.com, a mashup of Google Maps and Craigslist. The site accesses the listings in Craigslist and maps each one’s location on Google Map with a colored marker. Clicking on the marker brings up a window with pictures (yellow markers mean photographs are available) and a description. Right now, only 20 cities are represented and thankfully, Minneapolis is included!

i wish they’d develop this for craigslist buy-and-sell items. every few days, my fiancee (who’s not from here) finds something to buy or get for free, but it’s always in buffalo or savage. “st. cloud looks pretty close on a map; is it?!”

Great work from Paul; believe he was the first who could hack Google Maps (API). Today several (even nontechies) people acrossr the world are enjoying the benefits of Google API for creative applications as its quite friendly to implement.
