I was hardly surprised to see in today’s Strib that the Timberwolves’ Eddie Griffin, who is no stranger to trouble (see this, this and this for evidence), was accused of DWI. But two quotes from the Strib report jumped out at me:
1) A videotape from a convenience store that Eddie Griffin of the Timberwolves went into after an accident in late March clearly shows a Minneapolis police officer saying, “He’s not getting a DWI,” and “We’re taking him home to St. Paul.”
2) The suit alleges that Griffin was watching a pornographic DVD in his SUV and masturbating when he crashed about 2:30 a.m. on March 30. Griffin, 24, had told the Star Tribune a day after the accident that a dropped cell phone caused him to crash.

According to the report aired on Ch. 4 last night, Griffin told the store proprietor that he was, indeed, masturbating while driving and that’s what caused the crash.
