Sorry for so many strib and PP links lately. I wrote posts out of the other good stuff I found today. Promise: no strib or pp in tomorrow’s links.

(sigh) (this again)

Fighting Irish.

Fighting Sioux.

All or none, please.

Gee I wish I could live in a nice safe place like North Branch.

I am just furious that an 3 kids under 8 have absolutely no supervison and can wander the neighborhood and kill innocent animals. At least one of those kids should be killed now and save the rest of use untold suffering in the future as he robs and kills many more people.

The parents should be sent to jail also. Why are parents not held responsible for the actions of their children. I’m going to have a shitty day today!

What’s Coleman got his panties in a bunch about? It’s just some good-natured fun at the injuns’ expense! Ah-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa!

“At least one of those kids should be killed now”

That was my first reaction too, but it’s probably not the fault of the boys. My guess would be something nasty in someone’s upbringing. Maybe dad comes home from work a little liquored up and smacks mom around, or something like that. Somebody needs to investigate what’s going on in these homes, I think.

The boys may be salvagable.

Any kids who would kill a puppy have serious, serious issues and they need to get mental help ASAP.

However, I somehow doubt that therapy or whatever is going to correct whatever fucking screw is loose in those little brats’ heads.

Jesus, when I was 6-8, if I saw a little puppy like that I’d want to play with it!

My big question however is: Why was such a tiny puppy left outside for these little devil spawn to kill?

Well, considering Notre Dame was founded by Irish, that’s hardly comparing the same thing. If UND was a Tribal college, you might have a point.

I don’t know about taking the case to the People’s Court. However, I do think that the kids should be punished more than just being “grounded” (whatever that means). The kids obviously have some issues that need to be dealt with.

As for the parents, they also should be held accountable. Community service and counseling…

Crimes against animals should not go unpunished.

Well in reading the story the puppy owners have some issues too!

I don’t ever leave my dog out if I’m not home.
And if he was killed by some neighbor kids my first thought wouldn’t be to call People’s Court!

Yeah – the People’s Court thing is odd. These people must be kinda trashy.

Well, if they make it on the People’s Court, we’ll have to have a viewing party.

It sounds like at least two of the parents responded as best they knew how, no mention of the 8yr old. The older kids were usually the “planners” in my youth. I hope all those kids get real help.

Today’s unpopular opinion: Some children really do deserve to be beaten.

UND did ask local Sioux tribe members for their permission to continue using the “Fighting Sioux” as their team name. In fact, they went through the same process as the “Florida State Seminoles”. However, Florida State has a powerful program so the NCAA doesn’t want to make waves, so they pick on the little guy. I find the FSU “tomahawk chop” offensive, so they should stop being the Seminoles!

If they lose their court case, they should change their name to the “Fighting Sue,” and have Johnny Cash’s “A Boy Named Sue” as their school song.

I don’t know that I would call that opinion unpopular. It just tends to be unspoken.

The people’s court thing is strange. But, at least at one point, i believe the show would put like $5,000 up for the parties being on the show. Then, if the “judge” awarded the plaintiff say $3500, the plaintiff would get $3500 of the $5000 and the defendant would get the remaining $1500.

i don’t know if it’s still done that way, but it would be one reason for calling a show like that — to get some compensation, and to have a ruling on the fault of any party, but without creating a potential hardship on the neighbor-defendants. And, maybe it’s a way to teach your kid a lesson without putting them through the juvenile justice system or a civil case.

That being said, those kids are pretty little to be parading on TV and blamed.

Like an ugly baby. Everyone knows it’s ugly, but nobody has the heart to tell mom.

Yeah, UND did in fact ask for permission, and were told to go jump in the Red River.

What would happen if my 6 year old pit bull killed one of those neighbor kids while the kid was trespassing on my property (after coming in over my fence to keep them out) trying to throw rocks and beat my dog? Surely the dog would be put down.

These kids/parents need a punishment to fit the crime. Compensate the family for the lose of their dog, plus make a fairly substantial donation to an animal shelter (or something). Plus community service and counseling…

You’re still missing the part where the kid gets beaten.

…oh yeah, that’s key…

actually maybe a good pitbull mauling would teach them a better lesson than just a beating …

It’s not a stretch to think that there was one bad kid that goaded the other two into doing this. It’s highly likely this child comes from a terrible home. We need to go back to the Good Old Day’s (GOD) when bad kids were taken away and put in institutions for the rest of their lives. I think I can get KK on my side on this one. She seems to like the GOD.

Syndicated court shows cover all the expenses for their “guests”, including the judgments. It’s actually a pretty sweet deal if you want to sue somebody and get a free trip to Los Angeles out of it…but you have to file in small claims court first, and then agree to the “binding arbitration” of the program and take it out of small claims.

Then you get to go to LA and stay in a hotel on Sunset for a night or two, and have your associate producer borrow a shirt from her roommate (roommate being me) for you to wear because you forgot to bring anything without logos.

Well, this is GOD’s country … and we do have that Kielor guy who talks about GOD all the time

Josie, sounds like you have the inside scoop. Thanks.

I hope those kids have shirts without logos!

Give the kids a break!

Perhaps they have joined the Young Republicans.

After all – it worked for the GOP’s Bill Frist!

(I knew I could wedge in a partisan political angle.)

Foster: You are wrong, in fact the Spirit Lake Nation gave permission to UND to use the nickname.

Check out Charles Kupchella’s letter in which he ownes the NCAA.

I lived in North Branch. The puppy bashing doesn’t surprise me.

tublecane: Spirit Lake Nation did give UND approval, but they’re not the only Souix tribe in ND, and the other tribes rejected UND’s request. In Florida State’s case, I believe the Florida Seminole tribes were united in FSU’s usage.

One other thing, the NCAA rule doesn’t actually prohibit a school from using these nicknames and mascots. But simply prohibits a school that uses them from:

1. Hosting any NCAA post season tournaments or games. and
2. Using any such nickname or mascot on uniforms etc. in any NCAA post season tournament or game.

They don’t even prohibit the school from participating in NCAA post season games. They’ll simply have to be identified as UND, and have a uniform that doesn’t contain “Souix” or the logo on it.

tublecane: Spirit Lake may support, but Standing Rock has passed a resolution opposing. Agree or not, the NCAA wouldn’t accept anyhting other than unanimous support.

I say we push for Federal legislation that would require standardized parent testing. If you fail, your right to procreate will be suspended. If you violate the suspension or if you raise one criminal, you will be sterilized. This will not only help solve our society’s crime problem, it could even end the debate on abortion. Your thoughts…

g rote I’ve always wished we could do this! The key is finding something that could make everyone sterile, and you have to pass the test/be licensed to get the antitode and reverse the sterilization. Would solve almost all our problems. Do this and then also get rid of organized Religion and we’d practically live in a perfect world!

Mnblrmkr: Not hosting NCAA events is a huge penalty. Did you read the letter Kupchella wrote? The NCAA’s logic on this is ridiculous.

“At least one of those kids should be killed now”

Because that would obviously solve the problem.

That puppy-killer story ruined my day. Maybe even my week. I feel like I’ve been kicked in the chest. By an 8-year-old puppy murderer with a horrible attitude and no supervision. I’m not sure what this says about me, but I wonder if a story about, say, a dog that hurt an 8-year-old would make me feel the same way.

Hey, the NCAA is a private, voluntary organization. If UND doesn’t like the rule, they can leave. Maybe the NAIA won’t mind.

I’m not going to get upset if a schoool using a racist mascot and logo doesn’t get to host a playoff game.

And, they were probably never going to host another WCHA or Frozen Four again anyway, sincethe NCAA is moving to holding the hockey tournaments in big city arenas like Xcel, and United Center in Chicago.

KSTP’s followup on the puppy story is pretty sad — they arranged for the family to get… A NEW PUPPY!

Aw. And uh-oh.

Call me a crank, but do people who leave a dog chained up outside deserve a new puppy? Really?

Caring for dogs is a little too disciplinarian for me. Given the options of being tied up, confined to a house, or running freely running around the neighborhood, I’m sure a puppy would choose the latter — but that’s also a big opportunity for it to get into trouble, if not cause a bit.

Awww, that puppy thing is damn sad. Sad all around. Stupid people.

Some friends are house-hunting in North Branch. How the hell do they make sure they don’t buy the Darwin’s old house and end up with these psychotic people next door? The realtors don’t have to disclose if it was the Darwin house, do they.

kids like this shoud be hurt

i hope they tease them bassards in school, and where ever they go

I know the truth of this old old puppy story. I hope soon you will see the darwins on tv apolagizing soon. The news is somthing I personally after this story will never belive. If you’ve seen V for vendetta. Same thing. News aired whatever the darwins wanted to say and for that these poor children are being emotionally abused by almost the entire public. People are tormenting them for it. Only because what the f–ing news aired wow people get a life. News doesnt hold the truth. the news sensationalizes the storys so you lonley people have somthing to worry about. Doesnt matter who it hurts in the long run. As long as the public has some kinda conflict to think about.

Just out of curiosity, is English your native language?
