Ah, the Replacements. I distinctly recall riding my ten-speed to the Burnsville Center and pedaling home with by brand new album "Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash" under my arm. I remember loving the song "Johnny's Gonna Die." But goddamn that was a long time ago. Will I buy the new compilation? No. They were a great band, but they're long gone. Maybe it's cool, though, that some kids today can check 'em out and find out what all the fuss was/is about.

Bartel - thin skin? I'd expect a guy like you to care very little about what anonymous gossipers have to say...and btw, it's really okay for people to post anonymously - if you don't like it, change the policy.

What "today's hipsters" don't get is why "yesterday's hipsters" refuse to let go of the past. Don't you have neighborhood kids to chase off your lawn?

Some of today's hipsters probably don't get the Replacements. They weren't pretentious enough. Goddamn, they were great. "Stink," "Hootenanny" & "Let It Be" still deliver the goosebumps to this day.
Any reason you'd think that, just guessing? Because he once worked for a competitor? Because he used to beat City Pages on some good stories? Or do you think you should have signed your comment "I'm completely full of shit "?

Another brave libel from an anonymous poster.

As a total 'mats fanatic, I don't think they'd appeal at all to the hipsters. The 'mats lyrcis are too accessible, and they really didn't give a shit about status or image or fashion.
