Gee, We Just Get Rid of One of Them…

It seems like we already do have a vote, and these guys got some of them. It’s a good idea to have elected officials available in a free accessable way. And listening is voluntary.

If you actually think this is being accessible, instead of an hour long advertisement for their reelection, that is.

RT’s face is too pretty for radio, so I’ll go with Coleman.

Steve Cannon was the greatest talent in Twin Cities radio history. Bring him back.

it’s not much of an advertisement if you’re not listening. slow news day today or what?

blvd, maybe that was the point, that perhaps a real public affairs show with a serious host might be a better use of their time (and get better ratings) than letting politicians spin away for an hour once a week.

If Chris is 1/2 as bad as Nick, I would much rather have Gary. Atleast he has some credibility.

I hope the Evil Neighbor gives the Twin Mayors the nod, if only to enjoy the action when the MOB (the mostly right-wing Minnesota Organization of Bloggers) starts to fisk their broadcasts.

Especially these two smoke lovin’ bloggers.

Jesus, Bartel, do you have to be so negative about every politician in the freaking state?

I think it’s the idea of someone not paying for some form of advertising that really gets him.

RT is cool. He can’t help the fact that Polenta cut his budget for cops.

Anything that registers even slightly left of center on the http://www.clearchannel.com/Radio/” target=”_blank”>Conservative Dominated Media Airwaves is a-o-k with the Dog!

Both of the mayors just got elected. Pawlenty had a re-election committee running while he had his radio show. The DFL challenged it as free advertising and lost.

Does anyone under 68 years of age actually listen to WCCO? Having been force-fed that station for the duration of my upbringing, it has been banned in my household since I had a household from which to ban it.

I actually think the two mayors is a decent idea. There’s plenty of public affairs programming up and down the tuner. I’d like to have fewer guests though, and more call-in from listeners.

CJ reports that Pat Miles is retiring… I wouldn’t mind taking over that show!

I wish there were “talk” talk that appealed to me. I can’t stand the political stuff anymore. And the rest of the people appeal to my parents, not to me. They had some younger dudes on KSTP in that Next Great Thing contest or whatever it was called. Actually knew what the Internet was, as I recall. I think Rex was a guest on there.

I listened to Rex with those guys. He was good.

I grew up in Chicago with a lot of radio comedians, and with service-talk WGN-AM. John Williams used to be at WCCO, now he hosts an afternoon show in Chicago. I like that kind of stuff.

Agreed about Steve Cannon.

And RT is actually a fairly compelling speaker, and he’s got some good things to say. I mean, the office of Minneapolis mayor has no actual power, so the very least we can do is give the guy a radio show, right?

I think putting some milktoast politician on the air is a boring idea. WCCO should go grab someone from the Humphrey Institute or have a rotating guest spot (change it around every month/week/whatever).

Basically, when I think of really interesting radio, Rybak doesn’t come to mind.

grab someone from the Humphrey Institute

I’d rather listen to another man shit than listen to another pointy-headed academic tell me what their research tells them about the real world, which they haven’t seen in 20 years.

All those pointy-head academics at the Humphrey Institute? Like Tim Penny (former congressman), Jay Kiedrowski (former State Finance Director and VP at Wells Fargo), Ali Galaydh (former Prime Minister of Somalia), and the variety of other former state politicians and former federal and international policy makers?

I thought most of the students at Humphrey were boring and not very bright, but the faculty was incredibly interesting and infomative. Many of them would be great on a talk show.

Ahh, the “jez folks” factor kicks in. I know, instead of having one of them fancy pants book readers on the air, we should just put guys on who call some of the smartest people in the state “pointy headed academics” (what does that even mean anyway?). You guys really are the most engaging bunch of thought-provoking people I’ve ever listened to. So much better than someone who actually knows a little bit of something about anything they’re talking about.

I want pure, unfiltered anti-knowledge.

Why won’t SOMEONE put Tom Bartel on the air? He could show us all how it’s done and dazzle us with his intrepid political insights.

If I were on the air, at least you’d know who I was, unlike you, Clement. And it would be pretty clear that I wasn’t trying to get elected to anything either.

dazzle us with his intrepid political insights.

Did he mean insipid?

I say intrepid, you say insipid. Let’s call the whole thing off!

Well at least WCCO radio had finally dumped Palwenty’s so-called “Lunch with the Guv” show, after several years of listining to partisan blowhard rethoric by this guy. Too bad the program itself couldn’t live up to the same standards when Ventura was host back in the late 90s. And yet, Jesse was more fun than we got as Governor right now.

P.S.: I STILL miss Steve Cannon! Bring him back already! Save our image for God Sake!

jderusha should get his own radio show. he is high-larious! really.

i want to see, well hear him on wcco-am or ktlk (again).
