I noted that Jake’s on (old) Highway 10 in Moundsview is closed, and will reopen on June 12 with a new name — Moe’s! Just had to share news of this Homeric event with the white belt crowd. Hoping to see some of you MNspeakers at Boom Island Park on Saturday morning. See you there.

They’d better serve the Flaming Moe.

Has anyone seen the Mr. Burns statue in Spring Park?

Here’s a recipe for the FM. Have one after the Asthma Walk, please.

There’s a Moundsview now?
12:06 pm
Er…yeah and it has nothing to do with Mound!
12:12 pm
Well, can you *see* Mound from Moundsview?
12:13 pm
Well that would depend on how tall of a ladder you have.
It’s about 25 miles as the crow flies and the curvature of the earth blocks out most after about 16 miles.
12:30 pm
Well unless you are a member of the Flat Earth Society.
Then you can’t see it because of angels are blocking it with their wings.
12:39 pm
Moundsview also borders Spring Lake Park, which is in no way related to Spring Park, which borders Mound.

They need to get more creative with their suburb-naming around here.

There is also Shorewood in the middle of lake Minnetonka and Shoreview just east of Moundsview.

“The community was named for hills in the northwest corner of the community. The mounds have been largely eradicated, through the removal of thousands of loads of sand and gravel.”
Sez this profile of the suburb.

I heard Moundsview is contemplating a name change to Medtronicview.

A belated “thank you” to any and all who joined us at Boom Island Park on Saturday for the Ashtma Walk. I would estimate the crowd at 600-700, not bad for a first-time event. The weather was perfect, the route along the downtown riverfront very cool. See you next year!

FYI, a second Moe’s has opened in Andover, just off Highway 10 and Bunker Lake Blvd., in the former Doolittles.
