So Mark, if you voted with GW Bush for 95 percent of the time, then how come your trying to dupe voters in the state by proclaiming yourself as an “Fake” independent candiate that doesn’t have testicles with the Bush crime family adminstration?

DUH, Mark! The voters ain’t that stupid you know.

No, the voters aren’t that stupid.

If he voted against Bush 5% of the time he’s probably the senator that was least in lock step with the administration.

We all know that Methodists aren’t really Christians.

Amy Klobuchar should basically never mentioned Kennedy’s name again. That’s the route I would take.

She’s been doing really well by not using attack politics or taking the low road. Her opponent on the other hand, bases his whole campaign it seems on attacks on her.

95%…most lamest stat ever. Two people agree. Wow. I’m shocked. What’s the alternative, that a lawmaker vote against their beliefs just to show they aren’t “in lock step” with somebody?

Stoo-ooo-oopid.

Would it be to much to ask that people vote the way that would best represent their constituents?

I can’t believe that 95% of the time that would be the case.

The point is that he can’t say he has “a great bipartisan record — one of the best in the House.” when he votes all the time with the party. It’s a lie told to try to distance himself from an unpopular president. Sort of like the ones he told when he put pictures of Patty Wetterling next to Osama bin Laden’s on his campaign ads in 2004.

Elected representatives vote the party line most of the time?

I’m shocked I tell you! Positively shocked!

I hope srhcb isn’t a mole otherwise with the perchance for easily being shocked to death I would keep the defibrillators paddles nearby.

I’m sure if you asked he would say he does that 100 percent of the time. Duh.

I just read Kennedy’s speech from last night, I don’t even know where this talk is coming from. He gives one paragraph to the issue of “independence” and yet somehow it is the focus of discussion the next day.

But then I read about the “Campaign for Change” and see the DFL party chair spend three paragraphs attacking Republicans before mentioning his own party’s agenda, which he doesn’t even describe other than to repeat the buzzwords…health care…education…jobs…as if saying the words constitutes an actual plan, and it all becomes very clear: For the third election in a row, the Democrats plan is two words – bash Bush.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I would hope an elected representative would vote in favor of the interests of their constituents, not their political party.

Simple. Elegant. Incredibly naive.

If hope is naive, I’ll take a truck load!

Now if epoh is evian, I’ll have a nice chilled 1L bottle.

white man speak with forked tongue.

Kennedy said he would push for “change in Washington.”

OK, Mark, here is an idea for immediate change in Washington…go back to pumping gas and selling bait in Pequot Lakes. Maybe you can clear some brush @ the ranch while you’re at it.

Regarding the hoops=crime thing, this same thing happened in my neighborhood in suburban Detroit in the early 80’s. I don’t know the demographics in the neighborhood in question, but when it happened in my hometown it was 100% racially motivated. My neighbors automatically equated the presence of black kids playing basketball @ their neighborhood school or park with criminal activity. The irony is that the real drug dealers were the rich white kids who actually lived in the neighborhood. As a result the town had exactly zero parks with full court basketball & I had to ride my bike miles during the summer just to find a good competitive run. Also, our high school team lost 32 straight games from 1984-1986…poetic justice.

I wouldn’t even trust him enough to buy minnows from.

I think most Freshmen Senators go to Washington with big ideas about how they are going to make a difference and have their eyes opened about how things really work.

You really have to stick around for a while to move up in more senior positions in committees to really start to make a difference. I don’t think we can blame Mark Kennedy for thinking he was going to make big changes right out of the gate.

Oh wait I’m the naive one, strike that!

I like shopping!

Uh…either way we’re going to have a freshmen Senator.

I’m sorry change for thinking he was going to thinking he IS going.

People need to lighten up! It’s a nice day out, the weekend is supposed to be beautiful. Things are good!

I konw Mark Kennedy is a tool, and anyone else who saw his 2004 campaign ad knows it too. I sure hope Klobuchar’s campaign has those tapes ready to go if Kennedy tries running any farther away from his record.

as if saying the words constitutes an actual plan

uh, Kevin, isn’t that exactly the way Bush works? he does lipservice to plenty of things to rile up the base and then has exactly zero follow-through. Boy, sure glad he took up that gay marriage ban he campagined on!*

*please note that in actuality I’m quite glad he didn’t take that up

Too Slow tmay.

Bush is back on the gay marriage bandwagon in time for the election!

Ya, because if CONGRESS had taken it up you’d have been first in line to congratulate them on following through on their word.

I have a question for kwatt.

If I comment on the terrible state of the ongoing war in Afghanistan, is that Bush Bashing?

I’m not sure how this would come up in conversation in MNspeak, I’m just putting out a hypothetical.

Hell, I’d be happy to see that the candidates even LIVE in the districts they represent.

How “Wendy Wilde” hornswaggled the 3d Congressional District into nominating her with a cursory “Yeah, I’ll move to your district! Eventually, once the market firms up, and we get around to it, maybe” is beyond me.

Can’t figure how they get anyone to run against Ramstad anyway. Why bother? It’s the equivalent of running a Republican in Minneapolis.

Not if you’re telling the truth.

Is it Bush bashing to note that the Bush administration is like the slumping hitter who blames his bat, instead of his stance and technique? Social Security was an easy pop fly. Immigration is a groundout. He just plain struck out trying to get the country back behind the war in Iraq. I’ll give him a hit-by-pitch with judges. Gay marriage is just the latest Louisville Slugger to pull from the dugout.

I’m not much for bashing anyone, for the most part politicians are the same. The system of checks and balances and the process and bureaucracy makes sure nothing changes that fast.

If the republicans were going to disembowel civil rights they would have done it years ago. The ultra rich will stay that way and they rest of us will be much more comfortable and have way more leisure time and entertainment than in any other time in history.

I’m still figuring out what is the other 95% that Kennedy didn’t vote with the President, during his years in Congress. Got Math?

The ultra rich will stay that way and they rest of us will be much more comfortable and have way more leisure time and entertainment than in any other time in history.

Works for me.
