A City Pages Sayonara

Whah!? Dylan, I thought you were staying!

put him on a rocketship?

A dapper fellow. No more ties at City Pages, I suspect.

Not enough black artists at the CP?

Seriously though, best of luck Dylan in whatever you do.

Dylan,

Sweet Dylan. Thanks for all the advice over the years we worked together. We had our share of disagreements, I know. Heck, my shoulder is still sore from the time we nearly came to blows. But I’ve learned so much… so much. More than anything, I shall miss your smell: Pall malls and day-old peppermint. Did you ever find that old gunnysack? Well, never mind about that… those days are gone, tied to a brick somewhere under the Stone Arch. You’ve got new hands to get dirty, on your own clock this time. You stuck it to The Man, but this man is “stuck” without you.

Also, I’m pregnant.

Always,
C.

(double-posted to double your pleasure)

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Feh. FEH, DYLAN.

What’s Dylan going off to do? CP just said “moving on to pursue other endeavors”. Just curious if he’ll be writing elsewhere.

He’s going to write freelance (including for the City Pages) and spend more time in creative endeavors (as opposed to editing endeavors). He’s officing with me over at Lake/Lyndale.

I saw the headline and hoped, for a moment, that Rob Nelson was leaving.

Thanks for dashing my mid-Tuesday-morning optimism, MNspeak.

Creative endeavors, as in music?
Just wondering, as a long-time fan.

No, more like writing of the fictional variety. He hasn’t played out in about 3-4 years, and I don’t see it anytime soon. He hasn’t been doing much playing at home, but does keep the piano and guitars tuned and handy. thanks-that’s nice. Mike, you’re a jerk.

I’d never question El Nina when it comes to knowing Dylan’s next move, or next thought. But I gotta believe that hearing “Governor of Fun’ or “Longhorn Days’ once every 113 hours on the Current has convinced him THE TIME IS NOW for one last reunion of Golf-Ball Sized Boogie, or The Three Pesos, the Hicksettes, or even Dylan Davis. Good luck in whatever, Dylanina!

hopefully the new person will know how to return calls or hit the reply button on emails….
