Where’s Mike?

Not to mention that Bill Hillsman and North Woods Advertising, the guys who created the “Where’s Rudy?” ad for Wellstone and all those brilliant Jesse Ventura spots, are working for Kelly Doran.

Are you sure about “Bill Hillsman and North Woods Advertising, working for Kelly Doran”? I heard they met but didn’t sign a contract.

There’s a number of different events that gubernatorial candidates can attend – and it’s not uncommon for some candidates to do other things during some public events. The last cycle, there were some events where DFLers Roger Moe, Becky Lourey and Judi Dutcher were all present, and sometimes just one or two of them, even though all three were invited. I wouldn’t be quick to say he’s hiding. He could have been fundraising. If every candidate attended all the events they were invited to, they would be stretched thin (and I’m not quick to defend Hatch). Keep in mind that in many ways, DFL Delegates are more important to the candidates than the general public. It’s the delegates that choose who gets the DFL endorsement, and I wonder how many delegates would be influenced by Hatch’s lack of attendance to that event.

Comparing this situation to the Wellstone/Boschowitz situation is a bit wild at this point I think.

As for the “Hatch Volunteer Committee,” that’s simply the name of his campaign. Looking at their Campaign Finance Report it looks like they paid $285 for the domain name (wow!) from Mike Ford in Saint Paul and paid Easy CGI in New York $149 for hosting the site. Whois lookup confirms that hatch2006.com is hosted by easy-cgi.com. It is not uncommon to have a volunteer design the site at no cost, and it looks like that’s what happened with Hatch’s campaign.

P.S. I agree with whoever pointed out previously that MNspeak is getting a bit too political. :-)

Didn’t mean to be political. You have to admit though, that Hatch hasn’t been out there nearly as much as the other candidates. I’ve been to several DFL events this year where all of the candidates have been there except him.

I am pretty sure that Hillsman is doing the ads for Doran. My girlfriend worked there last fall and helped do some of the ad buying.

MN Democrats Exposed noticed the MPR story, too. He doesn’t buy the “I have a job to do” story.

…chatted about this topic last night with some people that are much more clued in than I am… and there actually may be some good reason for Hatch to drop out soon.

Too political? It’s just civics – the decisions that create the infrastructure so you can walk on a sidewalk or take a bus or drive to the shows, restaurants, parks, listen to the radio, watch TV, use the internet. That’s just scratching the surface. There’s a French saying, If you don’t do politics, politics does you.

Mpls Observer has a Hatch Blurb – it’s strange, he hasn’t been beating the DFL bushes either from what I hear. I don’t talk to the monied interests, so he could be doing a bang up job working them.

Wow, s4xton, that would be pretty big. I wonder what the race would look like without him. Would Doran be the next in line?

I wish Hatch would give us a little more of what he plans to do to help Mn’s high Taxes. He did a very good job going after the HMO’s.
My concern is for Property Taxes. The middle class and retirees are getting to the point where we are losing our homes, because of all the the extra taxes on Phones, electricity, Heat and Health raises. We are double and triple taxed on almost everthing. I thought that was against the law. But obviously the federal and state governments are above the law.
I will vote for Hatch. I don’t want Pawlenty in as gov. again. He went back on his word on the stadium, He has raised taxes by going through the back door, and I won’t vote for someone like that. Now He wants to put a cap on property taxes. Why hasn’t he already done that. He waits until election time. Its a little late. There are at least 20 people in my neighborhood whose homes have been forclosed on. This should not happen!
My last comment: We all pay the government FIVE months of our salaries. What are they doing with our money? One other thing, the people should be voting for the PAY RAISES that these people in government votes on for themselves. That never happened for me at my job. I couldn’t tell the people I’m working for how much money I want for a Raise. They would look at me like I was crazy!
Please Mr. Hatch let us know what your plans are if you become governer.

Thank You,
Kathleen
