Peter Scholtes’ annual Local Music Yearbook at City Pages always amazes us with how much has happened in just one year: The Current launched, Jordis was on the tele, the Olympics Hopefuls became more hopeful and less olympic, Atmosphere took over First Avenue, the Turf changed owners, Myth opened, Let It Be closed, the smoking ban turned everyone outside, and much more. Kick back, reflect on a good year, and leave any favorite memories in the comments. (See also: Top 10 Local Albums.)

I dread these year-end lists. Just big reminders that I need to get out/read/write/do/be more.
Except for the standing in the triple rock in 2 inches of toilet water. Pass on that one.

They are profiled this week. I haven’t heard the record yet, but I’ve heard good things.

Well I listened to the Modern Socks cuts on My Space and I think I will have to run out and buy the album for me and as X-mas gifts! It is truely very good. I’m looking forward to the Jan 20 show at the Turf Club!

I might be hallucinating, but I think they’re playing this Fri. at the Cabooze, with the Sweet Potato Project.

Thanks for the link, MNSpeak!
Note: the online version of the Local Music Yearbook appeared screwed up on some computers this morning (like mine) but has since been fixed, and other tweaks are still in progress…

I’m ashamed for not knowing more about our local music scene so it’s nice to see a list like this to see what I all missed. Thanks Pete!
Maybe 2006 will be the year I finally start paying more attention.
