E for effort? Give the dailies some credit for trying out new ideas on their website, even if recent products are a little peculiar. Let’s start with the PiPress‘ new group photo blog Minnesota Life — who wants to play a round of “caption this photo” with the current top pic of two halter-top coeds? That’s Minnesota life! Across the river, the Strib is looking backward with a new weekly blog called Yesterday’s News, which reprints random articles from the past century. Apparently the future is in the rear-view mirror.

People are really going to just anonymously submit photo material to the newspaper without pay?! Ugh.
Apparently the future is in the rear-view mirror.
I wish more people would understand that. Unfortunately, even with modern reminders such as the anti-terrorism movement and movies like Good Night and Good Luck, I doubt that anything will change.

The obnoxious, self-conscious attempt to be “hip” is exactly what bothers me about the new Strib (print edition). In five years, this stuff will seem so dated (in a bad, embarassing way).

After 2nd shift, Derrick and Zeke emerge from the Office Depot warehouse bathroom as Janell & Stephanie. Nobody is surprised.

At least someone took the time to run the red eye removal filter on the photo stored at the newspaper site.
The Flickr img still has the she-devil look going on.

OMG! They’re hookers! Janell and Stephanie also have pics of their hotel room and some cheesy guy giving them cash!
