Being Mayor Is Gay

Lavender has interviews with the four democratic candidates for mayor in St. Paul and Minneapolis. McLaughlin and Rybak are the only one who explicitly state supporting gay marriage.

R.T. Rybak: “I have been a tireless and unbending ally of GLBT communities, and strongly support same-sex marriage.”

PeterMcLaughlin: “I support legislation that would allow gay and lesbian couples to marry with the same benefits currently provided to heterosexual couples.”

I’d say they both support gay marriage

well whatever. the title got us here. i think they all answered these questions like the political animals they are. i’d say we know rybak is a supporter based on his track record. does this matter? what must they actually support at the municipal level? this is just a way for another constituency to categorize the candidates, and it’s sort of loopy imho. make your choice based on what they’ll do in their actual job, not on what they do or do not support at the state level.
