Prairie Home Companion is not a sponsor of Land’s End. It should say that Land’s End is no longer a sponsor of Prairie Home Companion.
It’s likely because over the past few years, Garrison Keillor has become just another narcissistic quasi-celeb who feels the need to tell us his political thoughts rather than just be an entertainer. But what do I know, I’m just a dumb fan of Prarie Home Companion. The kind that can’t think for themselves and needs some public-supported schmoe like Garrison to tell me what to think.

The prepositional phrase “as a sponsor” can certainly modify the subject, so there’s nothing incorrect about it.
