I laughed out loud reading this article today. I mean, really — does she miss high school so much she has to worry about being part of the beautiful crowd?

Maybe I’m revealing my inner homley self by saying that trying to be one of the beautiful people is 1) too expensive, 2) too time consuming and 3) way too insecure.

Or does that make me part of team “Captain Obvious and the Invaders of Good Taste”?

wow, an intership at the Star Tribune. That would be really really cool. Now time for that now though. Toilets need cleaning. Do you think she’d consider dating a janitor?

She’s intrepid?! Wha? She’s intrepid because she wrote some totally fluffy and banal story? Or is she simply “intrepid” because she’s hot? That’s ridiculous. The sexism in that comment is mind-blowing.

Lunch: Because I’m not sure about that student page link, I swapped it out for her MySpace profile instead. Cindy: She’s “intrepid” because that’s sarcasm.

I think she’s intrepid because she has “sex” written on one of the Jenga blocks that spells her name in one of her MySpace pics.

It’s just like one of the beautiful people to obsess about getting affirmed that they are indeed beautiful, then promptly dismiss the whole thing as silly.

ah-ha; cool, no biggy; i thought maybe she was pulling a fletch on us. i liked the strib when they were underground.

But don’t many homely people put copious amounts of time and money into being hip/cool just as beautiful people do into being beautiful? And aren’t they all just trying to keep their insecurities at bay by doing so?

I know a struggling alcoholic actor in LA who was rejected as a BeautifulPerson (perhaps they could smell the cheap whiskey stench over the Internet?), and was basing a lot of his self worth on whether or not he was accepted.

I’ve hung out with Alexandra and she’s actually – gasp – really funny and sweet, and while the article was fluffy I thought it was hilarious.
