I agree Taylor, very good point. I also really liked the Zacharek review and think much of socitey is outgrowing his "clever" approach to writing and would be interested in seing something more from him.

I've read Killing Yourself -- as well as Klosterman's other books and many of his essays -- and Zacharek gives this new book and Klosterman more than fair treatment.

While it's great that a major publication features Minneapolis locals in mild disguises, Klosterman's penchant for priveldging his own perspective really wears out the reader. And I like pop culture as much as the next person, but at some point our creative class will need to come up something a lot more meaningful than reflections on Wylon Jennings narrating The Dukes of Hazzard or the importance of The Breakfast Club.

Enough with the damn bear story. Every local media outlet has been vying for the unique angle/exclusive video/resident expert opinion on this and I can't take it anymore. She got attacked by a bear, big fucking deal. Maybe Kare 11 will run a piece about Mark Kennedy drafting legislation for tougher sentencing guidelines for reoffending bears in light of these recent tragic events. Sorry, I guess it has been a long week.
Thanks for sharing the Klosterman link. Cool that he will be in town to discuss his new book next week (Barnes & Nobles, Edina, Tuesday 8/9 7:30.)

The New York Times Book Review reviewed Killing Yourself to Live... last Sunday, but the article reads more like a review of Chuck than his book. Has anyone read the book yet? Thoughts?
