Just about every time we went to a game at the dome, you’d hear “fans” (quote marks emphasized) trashing GoGo loudly, which made me want to stand with the guy. Maybe he didn’t work out exactly the way the Twins hoped, but he was a fun player to watch and he gave the outfield another dimension. Hope things work out for him with the Brewers.

I like the guy, but I have to admit he was a bit disappointing.

This is why the Twins are the Twins and the Yankees are the Yankees. Let’s see, should we go for Hardy or Teixera? Hmmm.

I agree. The Yankees are boringly predictable.

If Hardy can find his form from two years ago it will be a fantastic trade. Go-go was at best a defensive center fielder. If he could have learned to bunt and run the bases he would have had a chance but alas I saw him swing at way too many 0-2 counts in the dirt. OC was a terrible fielder and hit below .260 for the Twins. The Twins outfield will be Young Span and Cudyer. As long as those guys stay healthy it will be fine. Young will hopefully find the power that he has within but the fielding will be forever an adventure. Let’s not compare the Twins the Yankees. The yanks spent over a billion dollars over the last 7 years on free agents. This is not possible for the Twins.

Can’t be more predictable than yankees.

If they had traded Gomez for W.C. Hardy, we would all be singing the blues…

The trade makes sense for a few reasons:

1) The Twins have four prospects in Revere, Hicks, Morales and Benson that have the potential to start in center field.

2) The Twins currently have only one viable SS prospect: Miguel Angel Sano who despite being a highly touted 16 year old, hasn’t played Rookie ball yet and is likely to move to another position ala Miguel Cabrera. Plouffe and Dozier are about the only other possible future options and the best case scenario for each would be a utility infielder role.

3) Hardy had a terrible 2009 but he has established that he can hit for power and will likely be asked to hit 7th rather than 2nd as he was in Milwaukee. Since Go-go’s only offensive asset was speed, hitting him 9th was the only sane option.

And Bill “Bojangles” Robinson broke the color barrier.

Hello.

Hey, justpbob, long time no see. Where’s sparber?

Ah… I remember those day’s, and Tuecer’s mom

I was vehemently opposed to the Santana trade from the beginning, so trading the supposed star of the deal after only two seasons shows that it was a complete disaster. In essence, we traded a 3-time Cy Young winner for JJ Hardy. I’m glad that this is an indication that they won’t bring back Cabrera, who if you didn’t notice made 11 errors in two months with the Twins. But I suppose Hardy has shown he can do what the Twins need up the middle, so we’ll see. Now they need to focus on second base.

The Twins couldn’t afford to keep Santana.

if you think the twins were going to sign Santana to a max contract (and based on his recent rash of injuries you should thank your lucky stars that they didn’t) you’re delusional. Twins traded one year’s worth of Santana to a team that cold afford to sign him long term in exchange for prospects, none of which have worked out particularly well. though now they have parlayed one of those prospects into a 2nd tier MLB SS.

That’s HANDY to know, Rat. However he spelled his name, I’ll bet Nat King Cole plays him in the movie.

How good is J.J.Hardy’s defense? (TwinkieTown)

I wasn’t suggestion that the Twins could ever keep Santana. My objection to that trade is that we gave up the premier pitcher in baseball (at the time) for absolutely zero major league ready talent. That’s absurd to me. You should get at least one everyday position player in any deal like that. Not to is a complete crap shoot. You may as well just wait and lose him to free agency and get the sandwich pick.

I loved the Santana trade…but I’m a Tigers’ fan.
