While these national polls offer an interesting snapshot, it's the state polls that matter. As we have discussed here before, it is the Electoral College, not the popular vote, that elects Presidents. Via Realcleapolitics, these are the numbers you should be watching.

Natinal polls may get the chattering class 'a chattering, but the pros look to the Electoral College scorecard.

Judging from the campaigns paid advertisements... the candidates don't view Minnesota as a battleground state either. I haven't seen any paid Obama ads on TV or radio. Maybe that will change with some of the new polling out today.

p.s. 4 parts Plymouth, 1 part Maraschino, 1 part lemon juice. I'd like to get my hands on some Creme de Violette, though I'm fine without it. kc! is out and about getting me a cherry-pitter so I can make my own maraschino cherries.

Nice. The Aviation is definitely the cocktail of our age. Or at least of this past week. Let us know if you do get the Violette, and what difference it makes. BTW, I ordered some imported Italian marasca cherries from Zingerman's, and they're very good in an Aviation. I also have a recipe for homemade maraschinos that I plan to try someday...

I don’t think it’s a battleground, either. There’s no serious third-party liberal candidate to syphon off the fringe element. I think it’s pretty solid for Obama.
